Phil - I like to be aware of all the relevant technology on the market. Quite a few customers have bought the 18MZ recently and having programmed a couple of jets for customers on the 18 it seemed nice enough so I got one in to try. I must admit I was thinking of sending it back when I first got it as it didn't have the "tick tick tick" function some people describe

Got some big multi channel jets on the build bench at the moment so rather than trying to cram them in to 12 channels its easier to have them all separate.

I remember before the JR DSX12 was released I was thinking - how could anyone ever need as many as 12 channels ! Now 18 is the benchmark..

Hopefully we will see the new JR XG** transmitter about Spring time then the brand war can start again ! The JR hardware always "feels" better in my opinion so lets see what we get..

couldnt agree more
ive been using jr tx 's for 15yrs and theres no other brand that feels the same to me,would love one of the bargain 14 mzs that are around at the moment but a brick with the sticks in the wrong place doesnt appeal, now ,the 12z well thats a nice tranny,14mz functionality with a jr feel,im thinking thats what i need

Just get an 18MZ.If you dont like the large size of the 14MZ then the 18 is the one to go for. Dont forget when the new JR 16/18 comes out next year it is going to be 2 grand anyway.

Phil.

Love your Phantom! But I've got a couple of questions:

1. Why did McDonnel Douglas engineers build the F4 with upward tilted wingtips and downward tilted horizontal stab? I would assume the jet blast from the two turbines pretty well cooks those downward canted horizontal stabs.
2. Does anybody have a picture of Daphne?

I think the Phantom was given angled wing (polyhedral) tips to counteract instability that was found during wind tunnel testing, as the Phantom was originally going to be a flat wing. The Tailplane was given anhedral to give it greater control at higher angles of attack which the aircraft would encounter during carrier landings and take off, this also enabled the tailplane to be kept clear of the exhaust. I am pretty sure that the saw tooth leading edge was for for angle of attack reasons aswell. I think the Phantom was a bit of an aerodynamic compromise. There maybe some Ex F4 drivers on here with a more detailed explanation.

What a top day today ! The jet flyers turned out in their droves and we had another cracking day. I won't list everyone who turned up as I don't want to forget anyone but as usual lots of good flying and plenty of totally unnecessary banter

Unfortunately when I got home I realised I was shooting pics in the wrong camera mode all day so most of the pics are rubbish but here are a few and I am trying to salvage some from the rest.

Simon Millers Tutor, Deano's Panther and Mark Shroeders Cougar...

Mark S and Deano put on a breathtaking display of trying to fly the Cougar and Panther in the same county at the same time , but , joking aside pulled off a peach of a landing together.
