Looking good !! What did you do to reinforce the wing halves? By looking, it seems to be epoxy? You could make the joint a LOT stronger by using a light-wieght fiberglass cloth with either epoxy or my favorite ( cause it's easier to sand) fiberglass resin. You more than likey won't need it on the "trainer" type plane.but when you get into sport flying you'll be glad you have the extra stength.  Goog luck !!

ODH look closer at the pics. Looks like a two inch strip of glass right down the middle. Pic #2 and  #3 shows it best. Use the enlargement button, it's very visible.

You may want to consider making the bottom front panel removeable for access to the fuel tank.  I did so with mine - a couple of screw in front and the landing gear bolts hold down the rear.

Yeah I cut the Lite-Ply on the bottom front of the fuselage about an 1/2" short of reaching the 1st cabin former. I then glued a small straight scrap piece to the removable piece to slide under the permanent rear portion of the Lite-Ply. I also set up some triangular hardwood blocks to put two screws in the front corners of the fuse, right behind the firewall.

I didn't reduce the dihedral on mine - wish I had.  Yours look like full dihedral.  I hear they are still great trainers with leas dihedral - more responsive.

If there is no slipping or skidding the dihedral does not make much difference.

It does give better roll stability in turbulent air.

It obviously does not change the pitch and yaw characteristics.

Zor

Edited to change I to It at the beginning of the second line.
End

Being I'm New to flying I just went with what the plan showed.. I've read about others taking some or even all the Dihedral out, but I figured I'd play it save till I learn.
What I did do was trace all parts to the wings ( tip, ribs and tip gauges etc.) .. This way I can build a flatter wing if I want instead of build a whole different plane... Building is Fun though so I'll more than likely build another anyways, but I have options with the way I've tried to set myself up.

You have done the proper thing "BillinIndiana".

I also have read about the reduction or removal of the dihedral angle (obviously).

I think it is a matter of "faith" more than "reality".

Some fliers are very religious     .

They will repeat what they read without experiencing it themselves or they will see it because it is what they expect even though it is not happening.

Good job Bill. I built one back in 1980 first  version still have it .Back in 2002 while at the NATS in Muncie I met the guy who designed the plane.  His name was Claude McCulluch. I had the Kadet wing with me and he signed it for me.  His AMA number was 10.  Will never forget it. Keith

I actually thought I was building pretty slow..? I even used quite a bit of Tite Bond, just so I would have to wait till it dried before I could continue..LOL

Sig kits build relatively easy and can go fast. I built a Sig Kadet Jr. for my first multi-channel trainer back in the 80's. An excellent first r/c build.
Not flying it 'till spring? What, you goin' on vacation. LOL.

The Jr was my first plane as well. Built mine back in 1986 with an OS 25FP for power. Unfortunately, the plane was destroyed before it ever got covered due to moving. I'm presently building another from the kit's plans but, this time around, it's been changed. I've added 6" to the wingspan, three bay wide 25% chord ailerons and removed the dihedral to increase the lift as this one is going to be set up so I can fly with floats. Due to the added drag and weight, I may be going up to an OS 35 or so and either a larger or a three blade prop, jury's still out on that one

I have the Thunder Tiger GP 42

I'm having a tough time picking my covering colors.. I know .. I know... It's just a Trainer and might have a short life-span, but I want it to look original and the best I can for however long it last

I really need to watch some more videos on covering.. I've watch one from Hobby Lobby where the guy does a Red and White wing.. Thing is I bought a combo iron/heat gun and I'm not sure what to use the heat gun on?  I see the Ultracote has a tack temp of 220 and a shrink temp of 300.. What do I do with the heat gun? Is it for open bay of the wings, if the model has them like the MK II does?

I use Ultra and I put it on with a trim iron and then use the heat gun to shrink it up while using a soft rag to put a little pressure on the sheeted areas to bond the covering to the wood. I have 2 covering irons, a Top Flight and a Century 21 but I use them very, very little.
You do have to be careful with the heat gun around the perimeter or the Ultra will shrink up pulling the edge where you don't want.
I use a piece of card stock to shield the covering around the perimeter to stop this.
Works great.
Your doing a bang up job for a newbie, welcome to the best part of RC.

Hydro Junkie.

Do you have any idea how much more lift you will have due to removing the dihedral ?
