Any tankers affected by Sandy? I hope everyone is ok? Is the Museum ok (no wind/rain damage?)

The museum is okay - we are lucky due to the fact that we are in a protected area.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all those north of us - stay safe!

HI guys,

I'm glad to here the all is safe in Danville Karen. I just hope that we don't loose too many tankers who planned on attending due to the storm. I hope John and Colin have a change in luck with their flooding issue.

Got hit hard here in north Jersey. Luckily not much flooding this time. Two "100 Year" floods last year was enough.....LOL. About 90% of us w/o power. Most all of the traffic lights are out. People are in good spirtis though. I just got done w/ 24 hours at my PD so now I am off thru the weekend...thank God. Hundreds of trees down over the north south roads due to the east winds. Many homes crushed by trees. Fires all over cause by power lines and FD can do nothing..... 31 years and is still get a kick out of watching a live, wet tree go up in flames like a giant match. That 7,000 volts primary is nothing to play with. Luckily, only one fatality near me. Tree crushed a man to death in his home overnight...most have learned to sleep on lower flooors overnight here now. I have never seen such high sustained winds for so long...very dangerous. Over all we will be okay...schools will probably be closed all week. Holloween is "canceled" since it is way to unsafe to walk around. Winds are gone but trees are still falling. My family is living in the motorhome and the generator is powering the fridges for a few hours each day. Power will be out for a while.

Still planning on Danville....haven't missed a battle-weekend yet!!! I wish you all to be safe, happy and healthy. God Bless and that the Lord that we did so well this time around. Bob

I planned ahead of time for this trip and made contingency plans for the storm. My bureau at the PD got the NWS alert last Wednesday. I am very lucky and we had no flooding. My town, Hillsdale, the town I am a policeman in, Westwood, and Wayne are always in the NYC news for our flooding. Little Falls and Little Ferry also were had hit as was most of the Jersey Shore. Thank God we had no flooding this time around. I am probably going to head down interstate 81 instead of 95 to Danville. Just to avoid all the shore and low-lying areas. I do recommend to anyone traveling far to bring a gas can to ward off any fuel issues. I have full tank int he Tahoe and I know that will get me to VA. Scott is coming with me he is brining a second gas full gas can. If all goes well we will be there by mid morning Friday

Hello from Danville....

Scott and I left North Jersy at 12 mid. Thanks God we had a full tank as we passed several gas stations with half a mile of cars waiting for gas. I has a full tank inthe Tahoe and Scot and I each brought a 2 1/2 gallon gas can filled to the brim. We stopped at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford for a quick plimpse before it even opened. I have been there several times be it was his first. Very impressive. We had about 21 tankers for the first day. Jim then Brett, Tony were there birght and early. We got there at 10 AM and unpacked. We had about a xozen batles as the hot rods and classic cars ouring in behind us. A family from Gettysburg PA drove 5 hours just to attend. Their two sons had a grat time and several guys lent them tanks to try. they wound up buying nice Tiger I from Doug. We fought until 7PM and them off tot he Golden Coral for dinner. The we invaded Brett and Tony's room at the Comfort Inn for my favorite activity..."Choir Practice". We are beat tired but at is 12:45 and we are still going......

We had 34 tankers all told today. We started at 8 AM and stopped just after 9 PM. WOW.... many senarios. Like, 4 teams of 4, and 18 man battles of 9 on 9. Bill Cambell, Jim, Jimmy. Doug and I, all had tanks for sale. So 11 tanks changed hands. The cheapest was Dougs FO Tamiya Tiger I with radio and battle system for $375 asnd the highest was Danny's heavily moded Taymia conversion T-34 for $1,100. I bought 3 from Bill Campbell. That is alot of horse trading. Everybody was happy. More pix to come. We had 5 new tankers for this event.

As usual, Bob you always make it fun for my son and I. We had a great time seeing and battling with everyone. The weekend never seems long enough when we hang out with you guys in Danville. It's always depressing driving home and having to think about the next battle day. I got to meet pattoncommander, mustclime, and a great family from Gettysburg, PA this time around. And my son made 2 new kid buddies Noah and Seth. See you guys real soon!

We all had a great time. I just want to that all the tanker who toughed out the challenges to make the trip this fall. It sure wasn't easy. A special thanks to Steve who came up all the way from Florida and Troy who brought his whole family down from PA. They were well rewarded for their efforts. We had so many battles and the participation was phenomenal. At one point we had 22 tanks battling it out. The sound of the Maybachs and Continentals was deafeninng at at the starting line. We picked most of the teams at random so everyone had a wide variety of wingmen and team-mates. Many new friendships were made. We did miss several regulars tank buddies who were unable to attend due to Hurricane Sandy. We wish them all good luck and a speedy recovery. We have many many pix to post. Steve took HD pix and also video. Scot has already posted some great shots. It was his first time there and he can't wait to return. I know he had a great time since he won the "Last Man Standing" battle. This was the first time that a rookie has ever won that battle at a Danville debut. Congrats Scot. He had some very good competition and this is not an easy task to achieve. I guess the NEAD battles in NJ and PA sharpened his skills. BTW....he KO'ed me to will....Damn!
