Oh yeah, I remember from the RCCA article now about that panel you remove and the batt is supposed to slide in sideways. Sounds like it could indeed be a bit of pain.  Looks like an interesting kit to build.

Pretty damn good in my opinion. The only issue I've had with mine is the motor mount not holding the motor firmly enough so I stripped a spur, but as long as you check it regularly it's fine. I haven't broken anything on it other than a stripped spur. Great buggy, especially when you consider that it's only been out about 1.5 to 2 years. Most kits take a lot longer to work out all of the bugs.

I believe so and I plan to do so with mine.  Install proper SC rims and tires for your track and go racing!

I bought my girlfriend a Exo kit and she just got finished assembling and painting it.

It's got a VXL kit running on 2S for now. I think that's definately enough for her.

Yea, she's a good one. She wasn't happy that her buggy had all that interior detail but didn't have a steering wheel. I fixed that for her today using parts from a Wild Willy kit.

I was just mocking them up at first to see if they looked right in there before I pulled them out to paint them. She kinda liked how they looked white so I just left them.

I just cant get over how SICK this buggy looks.... and the fact that you said you GF had the buggy. My gf has been asking about a nitro vehicle , but I think I will pick up the kit from towerhobbies right now for $200

The first RC kit she ever built was a Tamiya Blitzer Beetle a couple months ago. She enjoyed it and had fun running them with me. She was looking through a tower catalog and saw the Exo. So when price dropped, I just had to get one. I wish I woulda ordered 2 now though.

yea.... I want to pull the trigger on a couple kits right now, just because they are cheap. BUT..... I have never owned an electric car before, and the reviews regarding the battery intallation is really making me re-consider.

how do you find it?

Battery installation is only difficult if you want to run the interior body panel. If not, it's no more difficult then any other vehicle. I like the looks of the interior though so I just soldered a 6in battery lead extension which helps alot.

yea, I was beginning to think that the reviews were a little OVER picky ..... but I'm just a weekend warrior with these things.... so stuff that a racer or a serious hobbyist would find annoying... I would just deal with. Taking 3 minutes to install a battery vs. 1.5 really doesnt bother me ?

removing a few pieces of the roll cage apparently make it easier aswell

Well I never actually had time to take it apart (sold it with the bad diff) but I'm 99% sure what happened was the stupid e-clip that holds on one of the spider gears came off, resulting in that side not receiving power because the spider gear wasn't making contact with the rest of the diff.

What light kit are you using?  I finally built mine but I'm finishing up the details, body, lights and cleaning up the wiring.  I find a bunch of little light strings on Ebay and I've also seen the offerings from Axial.  I can get the Ebay lights for $4 shipped for a set of 4 whtie / 2 red and $3 for a set of 2 white / 2 red.  I would mix the two together and call it good for $7.

Yes, I beat the snot out of mine. I have only broken the cage where the wing mounts and a batt tray of all things. I run the interior and after a few batt changes, it's become easy. It's a tuck and slide manuever. Here's a vid of me bashing.
