micah11 -> Looking for another RC... (10/9/2012 12:31 AM)

Well, ive had a Redcat Caldera for a few months, and I already want another one! I would like to get an on-road touring car, electric, and would just be bashing on a road behind my house. Would be willing to pay around 300$ for it. Any suggestions?

HPI Sprint 2 Sport or Flux, anything Tamiya... are you looking to drift? Any particular type of on-road car? Kit or RTR?

Thanks

Chek out the Ofna GTP2e or Late model dirt oval and one of the Hobbywing ezrun systems. You might have to stretch your budget a little but you can put one together for under $400. Well worth it! 1/8 scale car make much better parking lot bashers than 1/10

I've looked at the GTP2e, and i like what I see. I'm not too sure what size ESC/Motor combo I should get, and would i have to spend the money to get a 2S/3S Lipo, when i already have a decent Ni-Mh charger, and I could just buy an 8.4v 5000mah Nimh, or do I have to go Lipo?

You don't HAVE go LIPO... but you SHOULD go lipo! You will need at least 4s and up to 6s. check out the hobbywing/EZrun 120-150 amp ESCs and 40mm-44mm motors in the 1800kv-2400kv range

Ok, so I did a little googling, and found these:  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=17827
In total, Including the roller for 185$, total would only be about 320$.

that would all work pretty well accept for the batteries. your going to want somewhere closer to 5000Mah and 30C is on the low end but will work. I would go for atleast 40C 5000mah bateries. everything else looks pretty good. Just don't over gear it and you should be good!
