Those Team JR guys you are referring to have been gone for almost 4 years now. They are Team Horizon members. The shirt just changed color.

Once again no news on anything from the JR camp at all.

I agree bskyinc. Some people get a little crazy and just want to sound smart behind a computer.

I think all the posts including the original post are pertinent, although indirectly, as they allude to the future of JR in regard to future product development in light of their USA distributor strongly supporting a directly competitive brand........now that we know that Horizon is going all in on Spektrum, and with less than stellar sales and on-line support of JR's XG8 and XG11, will JR still be able to convince all of us longtime JR afficianados, for me dating back to pre-Spektrum 10SX days, that they still have a superior product, or just another non-compatible Brand like Futaba, eventually costing me over $3000.00 to upgrade.

To compete in today's competitive RC market, you have to advertise both on-line and with lots of sycophantic reps.....I have seen none of that with Horizon/JR XG8 or 11. Most guys in our 90+ man club have never heard of the XG's or DMSS, good or bad.

I am sure JR has some grand plan for the future, i.e. competing with Spek and Futaba in the US market, but I still don't see it.....so until they make the plan available to the masses, I will at least temporarily shelve my 12X, continue to carefully evaluate my DX-18, using my super reliable JR Rx's and Telemetry, and wait for the next chapter in this Chev vs Ford saga.

Tom,
Can I use a JR 1222 with the Dx 18? I suspect it should be fine. I have never had a spektrum transmitter or receiver....all JR (10x or 12x) or Weatronic so far but I would like to work back to a better supported platform than Weatronic and also with a more advanced transmitter as well which seems to me to possibly be the DX18. I wonder why the Dx18 is so much less expensive than the 12x?

Thanks
Dave

I'm not Tom, but I will answer the question. Yes, the JR1222 rx works great with the DX18

Thanks Bob.

I am sitting here tonight wondering why not just keep using my 12x/1222 option...I like the newer technology of the DX 18 but was just looking at how you need the expansion module to go over 10 channels and I can get all of my setup usually done with 12 channels all included in the 1222.

SO I guess I wanted to make sure that the Dx 18 would just require activation of those extra channels on the Tx and would then be active on the 1222...?

I have a 12X /1222 or 10X/Weatronic for all of my jets. As I look forward a bit I do like the DX18, but I can also have my new Hawk flying with the purchase of just a receiver.

In any case, thanks for the information.

Dave

Dave, you get 12 channels with the 1222. What you have to do is turn on the xplus option in the DX18 and that will give you aux 6 and 7 channels in the 1222 making 12 channels. If you want to go beyond that then you have to buy the xplus channel expander.

Just to clear things up a bit. You can not use the xplus channel expander with the 1222. Yes you can get the 12 channels but that's as far as you can go with the 1222. You need to use a Spektrum Xplus compatible receiver to use the xplus expander. I should have mentioned that in the previous post.

You get a 9 channel Xplus compatible rx with the DX18 and you can use the xplus expander with that.

My reliable sources say that JR will release a 24 Channel Radio at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2013 (Germany), 18 Channels will be proportional.

I love my JR DSX12 and also my Futaba 14MZ, both have good and not so good points. Will be nice to see something NEW from JR.
