Hi,

My Son, T., has decided to take his Heng Long Pershing and build a T30. He's looking for 4 lower road wheels and suspension and 4 upper rollers. If anyone has a complete hull - that would be great! I told him I'd help (only by pointing out how to do things) in return for his commitment to do his best and to document his first build thread.

Although I'm not a GAMER, the software program "World of Tanks" has really done a fantastic job of introducing tanking to the world. His friends are really interested in our RC Tanking with DAK. A question they often ask is where can you buy a RC Tank from World of Tanks.

A line of 1/16 RC Tanks licensed under WOT would be fantastic. Whoever could put that licensing, manufacturing and support system together will strike a goldmine. Just saying....

Thanks for helping!

I have the roadwheels and rollers, were you looking for an additional hull?

Thanks, I'll have him take a look. He was going to do a Super Pershing, but wants to build something that isn't already being done in our club. He just bought the HL Pershing for his 13th birthday. Much better than a video game.

Should be a fun result!

Always wanted to build one of those that USED to reside at the PATTON Museum.

The chassis is the least of the problems...that back deck is going to be a nearly impossible chore and the turret also. Note Mustclime has furnished a photo of the back deck. Tracks should have the extensions but have never seen any in 1;16. Be better to do a T-25 or one of the Pershing _T-26 development tanks as a starter. I did a T-25 but then swapped suspension and made T-23 out of it. Ours at Ft Jax has the extensions cut off... . It came to us in three parts and they cut the extensions for shipping space.

Where is that T-30 located? Doing research at Ft Jackson, I have accounted for 4 out the 8 built. Ft Jax, ABG, Ft Knox and Detroit Arsenal, but could not locate any of the others. .

The tracks and back deck will be the worst. We are going to use Pepakura on the turret with fiberglass and bondo. But the deck and gratings, that's going to be tough. I have no idea on the tracks. Turner wants to just use the Pershing tracks......

http://www.aviarmor.net/tww2/tanks/usa/heavy_t30.htm

I was thinking....never a good thing.....what about those tracks with duckbills mato sells for the sherman? could you remove them and put them on the m26?...just a thought....that or remove all the end peaces and glue on duckbills onto the end peaces using PVC solvent glue....or cast some end peaces out of a flexable plastic.....

fyi....down near the bottom of this page there is a great sht of the rear deck....

Try using shapeways to print out a complete upper deck for it, then just cut out the old and in with the new. They have the option for fine quality stuff, needs very little cleanup

Here's the back deck of my M-46.....basically the same deck as the T-30 was a test tank for the Cad-Continental 810 HP V-12 and allison CD-850 tranny. I can get all the pics and measurements I want off ours here, but reason I haven't done the T-30 is the emmense work needed to do the back deck. I figured the only way to do that turret was to use a block of Balsa.

It is time i introduce myself as the man with the plan. I appreciate the help (Oh I apologize, I am tsull's son,  T.) and did take a look at the T32, but my goal is making something even bigger!( (T30) The tracks should not be a huge issue (I'm cheating and not adding the little tabs on the tracks of the t30) but the back plate will be VERY challenging. I have had a lot of building experience with other models, hoping it will carry through.  Wish me luck1 And I could always use the much appreciated help!

Yeah, that's our T-30 at Ft Jackson. Pic I took a few years ago. This pic shows the size of that emmense turret. Only way to get in the turret is by using the cal 50 pintle as a step and climb onto the rear. Just nowhere to get a hand/foothold on the sides.

That's amazing work! I'm starting to talk myself into buying a 3D printer. I can't see how to do all the grills and vents without one. Plus, you can cast from the 3D prints
