I am thinking of building a twin and am looking for ideas on kits or models that would suit my needs. I really would like to use two 20cc gas engines for reliability reasons. So that pretty much sets the size. I would prefer to build it, either from a kit or from plans.
Also, I would like for it to be a military aircraft and then beyond that preferably German. That being said, I did look at the Top Flite DC3, but I think it is just toos mall for those engines.
Of course I would like a good design for 1 engine out scenarios.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

My first glow twin was (and is) the TopFlite B-25 ARF. Very easy handling airplane. I have a pair of OS 55s in it, and took pains to make sure they were both properly broken in and adjusted (high and low end needles). Consequently, I've never had an engine failure. DLE 20s might be a bit more power than it needs, but would probably fit in those big cowls real nicely.

I do plan to put a rudder channel gyro on mine next spring, as holding it straight on a paved runway in a crosswind is too much for me. Mine has the fixed gear, now, but I'm going to get retracts one of these days.

Here's Ken Isaac's review on it:

Hi VG-

Not exactly German but the ESM B-25 is a really nice platform for the DLE 20. It fits the cowls nicely and flys the plane with authority. It is also relatively inexpensive for a plane of this size considering it has gas engines and retracts. There is a good thread on here for the ESM B-25. The B-25 seems to be a very popular twin plane. H9, Top FLite, ESM have ARF's and Ziroli have 2 nice sets of plans. The ESM plane is the only one that will fly on DLE 20's. I have the H9 B-25 and the plans for the Ziroli. Good Luck with your plans...I think you will enjoy the ease and stability of the DLE 20's.

Thanks guys. I have a DLE 20 in my little Pica FW 190. It is a great little engine. B 25's are very nice planes, but there are already 3 in my club. They do fly very well, and I usually call for my buddy flying his ESM during the noon show at the WBOTR. It would be nice to have a German mid bomber for these demos to change things up. I would really like to find a good JU 88 design I think.
I also prefer to build over the ARF route if possible.

I'd love to try one of the ESM birds, too, but I've read too many reports of dirt in the paint, parts that don't fit, etc. etc.

I've always wanted a Tigercat, but that one they have is an overweight pig.

Im kinda thinking of building an AMR twin 50 stick to get the hang of the twin thing. Then possibly the JU 88.
