Hello Tankers! The AAF Tank Museum is happy to announce that we have taken the plunge and
brought in a new line of RC tanks that up to now was only available from overseas.

Taigen 1/16th RC Tanks are now available from the AAF Tank Museum.
Presently the German Tiger 1 early and late models are available. We hope to bring in the full line of Taigen tanks in the coming months.

Details on these tanks are as follows:
Both the early and late models come with a 2.4Ghz radio.
Lower hull has a metal liner with torsion bar suspension and track tension adjustors.
Quick release system for detaching upper hull (very cool!).
Detailed upper hull and turret
Metal gearboxes
New 2.4Ghz digital control
New higher output speaker
New design smoke unit with filling cap
Battery and charger included, along with a box of airsoft bb’s, tank commander and misc. extras for the tank.
These models have plastic detail parts, wheels and tracks – we hope to carry the metal upgrade parts also in the coming months.

Presently the museum’s RC guru Douglas is going over one of the tanks with a fine tooth comb and so far no major defects have been found.
Once he has finished his assessment we will post what we think of this kit. The museum will also have one of these Taigen tanks available
for inspection by the RC Tankers that attend our November 3rd battle weekend. So stay tune to updated information on this exciting new product.

The next generation of Taigen tanks will come with metal tracks and in the future a complete metal tank will be available.
The packaging on these tanks is solid so shipping damage should not be a problem. But the artwork on the box is somewhat lacking in our opinion,
nothing like the Tamiya box artwork, which is spectacular.

To our knowledge we are the only US supplier of the Taigen products at present.

Check out our website http://shop.aaftankmuseum.com for prices and availability of the Taigen Tiger 1 early and late models.
Presently only 4 early and 4 late kits are available. All kits will be visually inspected before shipping.

Happy Tankin everyone!
Karen & Natasha

Thanks, that is very interesting news.

I can't see the details in the pictures too well but they both look like the early model to me, at least by what I can see of the headlights and coupala.

I am hoping the late model looks like this link; (except I am not interested in the metal "upgrades" shown in the link.

Glenn you are right - we used the same picture for now on both the early and late - I apologize for the ooops!

Many of the kits that we will be getting in  - in coming months will be an M41A3, M26 snow Leopard and Panther G. (Ya I know same ole same ole)
There will also be a Heavy tiger 1 with mtal exterior in gray ( early version) and in camo (late version).  You can also get a handpainted tiger 1 which is the picture you see in Glenn's link above,
which I believe is special order.

I am waiting on word on the other models that Taigen will be releasing and as soon as I recieve info I will pass it along.

Beautiful weather for tankin!
Karen

Glenn you are right

It happens once and a while

I might be interested in the later version, especially if it has zimmerit and the spare tack mounts on the turret.  If there was one with this description without the metal tracks, that would work for me.  Something that looks like the attached picture.

This is welcome news since having one shipped from a dealer in Europe would cost almost as much as the tank.

One of our members in our local club has a Taigen Tiger (late version) and based on that, I think these might go over pretty well.

Karen, I will be in the market for a Panhter when they come out.  I hope you are looking at the options to make them IR compatable and able to meet Tamyia standards.  The November meet should be a good time to get some feedback on electronics although the market is in a state of flux.I am happy with the two Tamyia tanks I have bought from AAF and wish you luck with the Taigens.  jot

As far as I know the only way to get a Taigen tank compatible to battle with a Tamiya is to use a Mako board. The Makos are now compatible with both Taigens or Tamiya.

When you say they are compatible with Tamiya, does this mean they are now compatible in every way? Weight classes, shot reloading, IR distance, IR receiver. A lot of talk about the importance of this lately. The patrons at Danville will expect this.

You can use other options beside the Mako board. Much better options would be to install the DBCRC2 or 3, elmod, or even a Tamiya electroncis package itself. These are hobby grade controls and offer much better battle options and control of the tank.

Rc Tankers,

I will be updating the pictures on our website on the early and late Taigen Tiger 1 that is now availalble, so
that you can get a better idea  of what the tanks look like. I am also looking at IR options and will  have the option that I pick on the website as well.

Thanks all for the interest!
Still Great Tankin weather here anyways!
Karen
