While flying yesterday I held my Tx up just above eye level to use as temporary sun shade so I could keep a good visual on my plane while it flew in the sun's general direction. When I did this I noticed my 10G was making an electronic buzzing noise.

Never noticed this before and checked with a buddy that was flying at the time, also using a 10G, to see if his made this noise too. Which it didn't.

It's not a very loud noise and need to get the Tx within a foot or so of the ear to hear it. Is only detectable from the front and seems to be originating in the lower left corner, right at the "display button". Only makes the noise when the Tx is on and doesn't do it when just the display screen is on.

Thought I'd make a post here before exploring a little deeper or calling support. Hoping to see if anybody else has experienced this or maybe get some input from Mike / Mark.

Still works as good as ever though.

Buzzing noise?? From the Tx??  I'd be careful. I've never seen/heard anything like that.    There's no powered moving parts...so it's not like something could be loose or vibrating.  It's got to be a component getting ready to go south.    If it's doing it consistently I'd get it in for service.  Something's clearly amiss...

I have the radio also. I'd be interested in what you find out.

Thanks,

Jamesf

Thanks for the reply. Just the source I was looking for... The guy that sold me on the radio at Toledo a couple years ago.

A certain buzzing is normal. It's high frequency electronics. If you have very good ears and you get close to the RDS8000 or SD-10G, you will here the electrons working for you.
