I have a ys 140fz sport and a ys 140L, which one would be the best candidate to revive?? They've been sitting for a while

They are both good engine. From my past experience, the L runs a bit smoother & stronger than the FZ, & can handle a bigger prop like the 15.5x12.5 wide.

That depends on what you want out of the engine. The Sport is little more civilized and the L is little more powerful but neither is ill tempered. I like the L personally and have owned over a dozen of them over the years, but that's me and my preference.

I concur with Adrian. The 140L would be the best candidate to revive. With 30% Cool Power, (old style) Hatori header and 20" muffler, it rev'd higher than the 140 Sport and will easily turn a variety of props. My favorites were the 16 X 11 APC in calm conditions and a 16 X 10 or 15 X 12 when it got windy.
