getting back into my rc trucks and was wondering if the engines will be ok they were sitting in a sometimes damp basement for three years since last time I had them out. losi lst2, monster mgt lrp spec 3, savage x 4.6. had to get all new battery packs old ones are dead wont take a charge. I know the damp thing can destroy nitro engines but fuel tanks were empty when I put them away. any thought would be helpful. also I found a gallon unopen nitro fuel two three years old any chance its good?

Fuel is prolly still good, best bet is to open the engines and check for rust/gunked up fuel.

I would open the engine and clean it, or at least give it an inspection.  For fuel, some say 5 year old fuel is fine, idk, comes down to personal preference.

Also swap in fresh glow plugs!

If the engines turn over and still have compression they will run. As was stated get new glow plugs. 5 year old fuel may still work just fine but I would pick up some fresh fuel for the first attempts to start the engines so you can eliminate the possibility of bad fuel if you are cranking and they won't run.

I find the biggest problem with nitros sitting is the fuel in the engine turns to gum and locks up the works. Sometimes you can put some after run in the carb and let it sit and they will break free. I once had one so bad that it needed a full disassembly and cleaning to get it to even turn over.

My tmaxx sat for a while (over a year) and the engine was pretty tight but turned over and loosened up once it got running.

Worst thing people do is leave fuel in the tank and that just makes a complete mess of everything. Clogged fuel lines, carb, tank, locked up engine, ect ect ect. Real PITA to fix.
