    New here and want to buy a Tamiya Lunchbox kit truck. I just love the design.
    Some questions if you'll be so kind to give me some advice.

    They have some options there for higher rated parts, engine, servo and some bearing.

    1) Are the brushless motors they recommend any good, these Team Powers thingies ?

    2) How can I know which motor will fit if I ever want to change it ? Can I put brushless on any electric RC model ? Will this truck be able to handle a brushless engine or will I brake something inside ?

    3) What servo do you guys recommend from the list at the etamiya.com website for this model ?

    4) If I go brushless do I need Li Po packs ?

    5) They also have some bearing for sale, should I get them ? are they a better than the stock ones and where will they be installed?

    On the German dealership of Tamiya for the lunchbox model they have a PDF containing some original Tamiya brushed (i think) tuning engines. I suppose they all fit this model because I could not find them in the etamiya.com or the tamiyausa website, they are buried through the categories. You can only find them if you input the code directly.

    Status: offline     		1.Can't comment, as I've never tried them.
    2.The lunchbox uses standard 540 size 1/10 scale motors; brushed or brushless. Almost any rc model can be upgraded to brushless. Yes, a lot of people have upgraded their lunchboxes to brushless with no problems. They use pretty stout gearboxes.
    3.Hitec and futaba both make very good servos.

    4.While you will be able to get better performance with lipo batteries, nicad and nimh batteies will work fine.
    5. Yes, they will help reduce friction and they'll last much longer than the stock plastic bearing the lunchbox kit comes with. On the lunchbox, they will be installed in the front wheels and in the transmission. You'll need one 5x8mm bearing and nine 5x11mm bearings.

    Status: offline     		thanks for the bearing tips Nate. I ordered upgraded bearing and I wasn't sure why there is just one that is smaller than the rest then I read your post

    some more questions:
    1) Should I buy hardcase Lipos or would I be fine with softcase ones ? I reckon I will mainly use it on tarmac and maybe some slight jumping and bashing.

    2) My brushless motor has 9.5T 3900kV they recommend a 7:1 gearbox ratio. Should I make plans for a future differential upgrade from plastic to whatever better material there is ?

    Not sure, that one 5x8 is in the transmission.
    1.The only reason you'd need a hard case one is if it's going to bang around in the chassis. If it's properly secured to prevent movement, soft case lipos should be fine. Soft cases are also better because you can see potential problems if the battery swells. Hard cases are enclosed in a plastic shell, so you can't see how how the battery looks.
    2.I don't know of any diff upgrades for the lunch box. However A lot of people have gone brushless and had no problems with the stock gears. They are pretty strong.

    Status: offline     		Did you already buy the Lunchbox?
    If you order from Romania have a look at this german shop Modellbau Seidel, as its europe you might have less problems with customs and they have loads of parts and are not expensive.

    I would start with the standard motor or maybe the torque tuned or the sports tuned. ballbearings are a must.
    There are some other usefull hopupps.
