Status: offline 		Yes, amazing, plus flyer got the plane back with very little damage. No doubt if they tried other methods (rod and reel casting with tennis ball, etc.), when it fell it would have been damaged. It reminds me of the courtesy retrievals from nearby swamp done by the police department helicopter in Hawaii some 30 years ago, at the state park flying site just east of the Pali.

Status: offline 		I wondered if the prop wash from the heli would have driven the plane further into the tree. Simply amazing. I have my own flying field with plenty of trees. I have cut trees down to retrieve some of my own planes.

Are their any devices that are on the market that help locate downed and lost planes???? I have a Patty Wagstaff gaser that is lost on my property (have chainsaw will travel). I hope this post doesn't interfere with the main subject.....Ron

I've flown from that site many times....the swamp assumed ownership of my Zero back in 2010....wish they still did those retrievals then! I'll be moving back in a few months, so I can resume my search and rescue operations lol. More than likely, I'll add again to the swamps missing in action list again.

Apparently not. Helicopter in use was one of the smallest available. If it had been a CH-47 Chinook, perhaps.

There is a loud beeper that plugs into an unused servo channel or Y cord it to another. When the transmitter is turned off, it emits a good loud squelch.

If you buy a telemetry device, you could locate it with a directional antenna and a signal strength meter or receiver, I suppose.

this is funny after losing 2 last year and couldnt find them in the woods i got them in my planes now and havent lost one in the woods all this year and had my share of dead sticks this year, see if you put them in you never lose another one lol

Status: online 		Last summer I had a foamy stuck in a birch tree. Tried to climb it, not a chance. Went home to get the chain saw and mentioned to the guy next door, a marshal arts expert, who said he'd come along and help. When we got there he said let me try something and then proceeded to hit the truck of the tree with his palm. When I asked him what are you doing hitting a solid trunk, he said look up.
To my total amazement the top of the branches shook every time he hit the tree. Once he'd established the rythem, it was just as if a strong wind was blowing, the entire top of the tree was shaking... quite amazing. After about 30 seconds the plane fell out! He said he'd learnt the technique in Japan.
So there you go, forget the chain saw, learn Kung Fu!
