Hi, please could someone tell me if a DM12 Spektrum Module will work with a PCM9x2 (9303) to give 9 channels of DSM2?

Thanks in anticipation

Roger

I'm guessing that you're talking about the 2.4 module for a JR 12X MV radio?

If so, that is the ONLY radio that module will fit.

Do you have a link?
Search term DM12 and DM-12 give no results at Horizon.

They do have a JR 12 channel module http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/12x-mv-2-4ghz-dsmx-module-JRPTXM1224X that says it only fits the JR 12X MV transmitter.

Having done some homework it seems to be a module usually used with Graupner mx 22/24 radios which I believe are based on JR electronics, but all the Google search results seem to be in German!

Found this link:

Looks hopeful?

There's a decent chance it will work. Maybe in the next day or two someone who has tried it will see the thread.

Just curious... What made you rule out the 9 channel module that specifically says it works with the 9303?

It's for a FPV project and I need a module with an external aerial connection. Since I have been keeping an eye out this is the first used module that has come up. The later one piece one will be more awkward to adapt.

For a decent module you might try looking at this:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1482559

I got one and it works for both DSM2 and DSMX

What you need is a used DM9 module in the original case with the external antenna connection. If you can't find one used, you may want to check with HH and see if they can provide the case parts to convert it back to the original style, or find someone who bought an upgrade case for their original DM9 and will part with the old case real cheap.
I'm almost 100% certain the DM12 does not have a PPM input. It will not fit the module compartment of your radio and your radio can only output PCM and PPM. The DM12 has a digital feed between the module and the 12X MV radio it was designed for.

Thanks to all for their input. I was successful in winning the Module on eBay (£0.99) and have just got home from collecting it. On first appraisal it looks the correct shape and size, except for the aerial connection exiting in the wrong place ( an edge rather that the back ). I took the back off and it was easy enough to drill a fresh hole in the back and reposition the connection. From there it simply plugged in, the connections lined up and it snapped in and when turned on, it lit up. The real moment of truth was to bind it to the model, and that was fine too.

So, it is confirmed, the DM12 module will work fine in the 9 Channel JR with an extra hole drilled!

Best regards

Roger
