Thanks for the detailed explanation. Until this morning I hadn't noticed that they had provided aluminum brackets for mounting the servos. I like your solution of screwing the brackets
to a plywood plate and then Hysoling the entire assembly into place. With the servos that I have I'm not certain I will have enough room to add a plywood plate as my servo fit very tight.
I may need to attach the brackets using bolts through the bottom stabilizer skin. I've started making a template that I should be able to tape in place to drill the holes for the servo brackets
and cut the servo arm slot.

I also really liked the clevises that you used as they look very heavy duty. Where did you get them from?

As I have seen from your pictures I think fuel lines from main tanks does not allow the canopy to be attached in place.
Did you modify canopy? If yes could you attached some pictures?

Yes you have to remove the cross member at the rear to clear the fuel lines.
Finished my equipment install and mocked up the battery plate. With the batteries forward on the plate I believe that I will be ok on the C/G with any extra weight. Had to put a block on the forward bulkhead to mount the front of the battery plate to

Using 4 batteries, 2 x 2300 A123 for the RX, the 9.9 3800 for the Cheetah, 2100 6.6 volt LIFEPO for the smoke pump.

Only thing left now are the wings.

It is the 130 ML size CAT. Ive run the same size on my Rhino with success.

Status: offline 		Almost finished the wiring except batteries and turbine. I am waiting to send me the longer thrust pipe. I have installed ECU, fuel system and fuel pump. Just to install turbine and thrust pipe.
I have attached some pictures of my progress. I have reinforced tail section with carbon and nose gear retract mount.
I must find a solution to re-route wiring because I do not like as it is now.

Why dont you put the wiring under the radio tray, just make sure the hole beside whatever your wiring to is big enough for the plug or connector your using.
Here's a picture of the install on my F-16 with all the wiring below the tray. the grey on the tray is actually dolls house carpeting and not paint.

Status: offline 		Any recommendations for CG and flap settings?
Will you set landing flaps to 90 degrees?

I am thinking to use four conditions.
Condition 1 for normal flight
Condition 2 for take off. Flaps at 30 degrees
Condition 3 for landing1 and flaps at 70 degrees
and Condition 4 for landing2 and flaps at 90 degrees.

I will adjust CG at the rear end of wing aluminum spar.

What about yours settings?

Status: offline 		How did you attach the fuselage nose section to the rear. Did you permanently attach it using Hysol and simply use the screws for alignment / clamping or did you simply bolt it together so you can remove the nose section in the future?

Status: offline 		I have used the 4 screws. I also used 4 bigger washers and 4 spring washers.
I can not see any benefit to use Hysol.
If you use Hysol and after you have to remove fuel tank, you must take out
everything.

If you want you can use longer screws and install locknut from behind.

Status: offline 		I only used the four bolts also with larger washers and a lock-washer with a dab of blue thread-locker on each bolt.

Mine is within an hour of being flight ready. Just need to set the flaps and the aileron travels and give it a once over. Looks like Friday afternoon will be the go time.

I will start with 20 degrees of half flap and 70 degrees at full flap to begin with. Flaps will be on separate switch for starters

Elevators are set up for 30mm/21 degrees on high (the manual recommended setting), 16 degrees mid, and 11 degrees low.

Once I figure out the throws I will combine on flight modes

Status: offline 		OK two flights on the plane today
The first take off was a bit rocky but got it trimmed out in a couple of minutes Flew nice and smooth. No elevator compensation with flap deployment but it wanted to roll left with 35 degree flap. Held some correction and bounced it a bit on the first landing. I was so used to landing my Boomerang torus at this field that I turned in a bit to soon with the dragon and didn't slow it down quite enough. Re rigged the flaps a little for the second flight and it was better but not quite there yet. Went high and played with the full flap and the plane is very stable.

The elevator setting at 30mm/21 Degrees is too much for normal flight. The plane would snap over hard at that setting. At my mid rate setting of 15 degrees. you can do a full back tight loop at half throttle and the plane just comes around with no problem. At my low rate of 11 Degrees the plane is super smooth. 25mm on the ailerons gives a fast enough roll.

Plane is stupid easy to knife edge. There are some very small coupling issues but nothing that can't wait to trim out later.

I had wanted to put my Rhino in this thing at first but Eric assured me the Cheetah was the better choice. He was right, it has plenty of vertical and it will break the AMA speed limit (Im using the Spectrum GPS module to down link to my DX18. Good Stuff!) I flew the plane most times at 1/2 throttle and other than the verticals it appears it will do anything at that speed you want. what really impressed me about the Cheetah was that it had not been started in 6 months but it started right up with zero problems (OK it did give a little belch on the first run up but after that was as smooth as could be)

The plane with NO fuel weighed in at 29.7 lbs. I had to move the ECU battery to the very nose of the plane and add 8 ozs to get it to balance at the front of the wing tube. so the plane is just a tadd less than 31 lbs w/o fuel. after flying it that may be a little nose heavy. 1/2 throttle 45 degree up line then rolling inverted the plane start to tuck the nose down some. Will move some stuff around next flight.

The gear door is pain. sometimes it closes, and some times it will be open as you pass by. Maybe it needs a second ram? Its fine on the ground, its at speed it acts silly.

The nose gear failed to extend once on the second flight, went around a cycled the gear again and out it popped. On inspection after the landing the pin was bent and the "E" clip groove on the head of the pin was broken and the gear came out of the trunnion as i was taxing back. Not to worry, been through this before with the gear on BD-5, Dreamworks bushing and pin will fit right in with little modification.

I have posted a short video of the second flight on you tube. Its of poor quality but it does prove that it does fly.

Cangratulations! Hope you have plenty more flights with Dragon/Cheetah!

I will redo the manual for Dragon as the current one is outdated. I did it couple of years back when i received the prototype with balsa wings and film covering. So i ask the pilots permission to use some of the pictures in this forum in the manual.

If you have more pictures pls let me know. I build about 10 myself but never took pictures again...

As I have seen from the video the plane can come very slow for landing.

What was the problem with nose door?
