Having a hard time deciding between RTR sets - the Rustler VXL and the e Firestorm Flux....perhaps the radio will be the tiebreaker.  Which do you think is better out of the box?  Thanks!

After reading the spec's on both the Rustler VXL looks to be the better all around package especially with the digital remote. I bought my equipment used but the first day i had it i ordered up a digital radio to replace the old

Zrock both radios are digital... Actually all 2.4's are digital as it refers to how the signal is transmitted. There are no analog 2.4ghz electronics that I've ever heard of.
I have a TF-40 from my Recon (it also comes in the firestorm) its not a bad radio. Actually was probably the best part of the Recon...

Any TQi remote can be upgraded to have telemerty and the telemerty sensors are very easy to fit to a rustler

bad luck?
don't take this the wrong way the iPhone might function fine as a portable web browser, for txting, playing angry birds, and a pile of other (pointless) things but I find it sucks as a phone to talk on. This is based off of talking to a quite a few different people who called me on iphones(models ranging from 2-4g). I put its call quality on part with a broken fast food restaurants drive thru speaker. BTW my phone is a wired land line that I can understand every one else on pretty much any other phone perfectly fine its just iphone users. Might be the carrier here I don't know, but that is my experiences with people who owned them.

But I digress I meant more along the lines without an isomething, and a dock it looks like it basically just has throttle trim, St trim, and endpoints just like the HPI radio so without the dock phone, and probes their really is no difference in the 2

More stuff to buy for what?  To me they are gimmicks in a lot of ways.  Don't forget all of those "sensors" suck up juice....so it's a battery drain if you ask me and besides - when are you going to look at that telemetry?  Would it be nice to know where the battery is in terms of charge...probably...but then you have one usually on the car itself...a low voltage cutoff.  I don't see the value in it maybe other than geek racing or something....I don't even see that many racers owning them.  Like I said - when are you going to look at that telemetry while racing or even in your backyard ripping around.  It's got the "cool" factor I guess....just like a lot of other Apple products.  For me...I just own shares in the stock....not the toys...let someone else buy the gadget...I'll take the money.

I wasn't trying to bust on it or not...but I left out the most important part...sinking another $40+ for the base....and another $30-50+ for the telemetry sensors.  I already mentioned the drain on the battery.  What have you gained with knowing the temp, battery level, speed....etc anyhow?  Like I said - it's a pricey "coolness" factor....but hey what do I know....I would rather spend the extra $70-90+ in extra parts, batteries or tires.

I think all those options are great. If i would have knowen the price difrence was so minimal to what i had bough i would have gotten one... Also how many of us go out and buy temp guns, battery level guadges for the veh? This is one of those discussions where no one is right or wrong.. Every one has their own opinion and choises for equip.

I've found nothing out there is easier to setup than a TQi with a iPod attached. It's all touch screen with sliders. It also stores my gearing so I never forget, and alarms when the motor is overheating or just before the Esc LVC kicks in. I even know exactly how fast it's going and the motor rpm. aswell as the motor temp, now I can gear my cars correctly to the limit and not have to worry about overheating them. If they get hot it alarms.

See I like thing that are better, I know I can do with out them, but a 2.4ghz controller, lipo and brushless systems are just one of those things I like, and the TQi is just like them, u don't need it but it makes it more enjoyable
