Went out today to tweek my tuning had a little bit of a bog on a deat start. Got the thing perfectly tuned and after a few I noticed that it was not shifting into 3rd gear. Just figured the tank was getting low and might be leaning out a bit. About a mon later she ran out of fuel. Refuelled but could not get it to run properly. It kept staling if I gave it any throttle. Reset everything back to factory thinking something got out of adjustment when it rolled still would not run properly it would just stall or if I did get it rolling it would barly move sounded like it was getting way to much fuel. Gave up since its way to cold to be messing around with it. Figure something came loose gonna pull the engine and seal it all up hopefully its just a air leak.  This is on my savage xl

ive had the same problem, mine was for different reasons though.  i noticed the mid range needle had backed out on mine so its turned in now.  Theres a tapper to the carb on the inside of the mid range that mine is set at now then reset all the needles from there.  seemed to work for the most part cause the truck would always stall after a wot pass and wouldnt shift into third either,  i did change the shift point though and that helped alot.  then i ran mine today and lost a bit of power and noticed the mid range had moved.  so reset that ran it and the clutch came loose and stripped the clutch gear apart, causing truck to flip and screw up the steering servo haha.  i feel your pain.  I am curious though, is your mid range needle set to the outside of the carb? cause i cant seem to figure out if you set it flush with the outside of the carb or flush with the tappered groove on the inside.  thanks!!

Well now the owner of a tmax. Picked it up for a price I could not pass up. Owner said he had for 3 years but only run 1 tank of fuel. So I low balled him not thinking her would take it. So even if I have to toss a engine In it I'm still good

lucked out... got the tmax and not even a scratch any ware on it mint condition... Engine was stuck at Top dead center so pulled the top off and gave it a little WD40 and stuck a hair dryer on it for about 15 min. Freed right up put some fuel in it primed and fired up first crank... let it idle for a bit but the temps got a little to high im hoping since it was just sitting in the shop idling on the bench.. ill take her out for a break in this weekend and see how it goes...

do not try to drive the t-maxx like a savage
they are fragile to high hell. Bulkheads are extremely notorious for breaking.

as for sealing the engine heres a good post on it from a guy who used to post here often, and was basically the savage guru (seriously I think he owned 17 of them) http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8761168/anchors_8763733/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#8763733

LHS pissed me off for the last time... 1 out of 4 parts came in.. the cycl and sleeve and then of charging me what they quoted me of $70 they charged me $90. when i tried to get a explanation i just got the run around so oi took the part and left. Got home and ordered the remainder of the parts i needed and they should be here next week. shot them a email telling them to cancel my orders as it is a little ridiculous to be waiting almost a month for parts and i still cannot get a eta of when they would be in and the pricing differences from what i was quoted. they even lost my fuel sales and i was going to buy a new rc from them but they lost all that as well...

on a good note i checked the piston and sleeve and the pinch is pretty much the same from the new and old so i really did not need that part.. in the pare box it goes

Finally got all the parts. What a pain replacing all the gaskets in the carb. Next time ill just order a new one. Figure I found 2 leaks in the midrange and high idle both gaskets just broke when I removed them they were so dry.  All put back togeather and seeled and I can get a run in tomorrow

Runs way better than it ever did. Took about 5 cranks of the roto start and fired right up. Even when it would stall it would fire back up within a second. Was unable to tune as I could not get a good run in the snow and then the batterie in the truck started to go dead. Could not get steering or throttle unless I was within feet of it. Was nice to hear it run forgot how loud it was compared to the tmaxx
