I'm trying to get into the headphone game and try to pick up a nice set and an amp/dac. Looking to spend around 300 or so for everything.

I do a lot of gaming
Listen to Metal mostly
Ear pads have to be velour

If anyone has a suggestion, much appreciated.

Been out of the game for a while now but back in my DJ-ing days Sennheiser were always the headphones of choice.

I am when it comes to home theater stuff, but not so much with headphones. I have an older pair of Bose headphones which are good enough, but I'm sure there are REALLY nice ones out there too. I simply can't bring myself to spend more than a couple hundred at most on headphones. Most of the time I only use them when I'm out, and then I like the size and convenience of earbuds.

I can't walk around in public with headphones the size of small tires.

If I'm not using my Genelec Speakers while doing audio productions at work, I use a set of Senheisser HD 280 Pro.

These I bought myself (not company supplied) and for the money are brilliant. Excellent response, clean, clear and very 'neutral'.

Yeah they sound amazing so far. It is going to take awhile to break them in.
