Status: offline 		I purchased 4 Zippy Compact 5000mAH 5S packs over the Summer. I finally got around to getting them ready by soldering 4mm bullets to them and applying the Velcro. This is where it get interesting. Using one of the packs a a guide, I cut 4 identical pieces of Velco and started sticking it to the packs. But, on one of the four packs, the Velcro was 1/8" too wide. I initially thought I screwed up cutting the Velcro too wide, but, upon closer inspection discovered one pack was 1/8" narrower than the other three packs. The length and width dimensions are identical, but the "height" of this pack is less. The only explanation I can come up with is each individual cell is thinner, or ??

Has anybody experienced anything like this? Thanks.

Status: offline 		If the cells balance and it charges as advertised, I wouldnt worry about it 1/8 inch shouldnt be of concern just my opinion

I'd weigh them. If the narrower pack weighs less by more than 10 g, I'd be suspicious.

Status: offline 		The U.S. warehouse indicated it only had one. I ordered 6 packs and received two on Saturday. I have not received the other four yet. I think I wrong in the above,. I think it was about $33.00 for the slow boat from China?

Status: offline 		Thanks. Not sure if you have used the batts in the past, but they are awesome. They are very strong and hold their voltage under load. I was very impressed with them, and they are really light

Status: offline 		No, my first experience using them actually. I bought them as practice packs not knowing, if they would stand up. I was using a Rhino and a True RC pack several years ago. I really did not like the performance of either. I flew the P program three times with the new Zippy pack and was very pleased with it. I am also going to try the F3A Unlimited 35c/5100 as windy day packs.

Status: offline 		Check the 'C' rating - usually the lower C batteries are a touch narrower (and lighter).

I would fly the packs and see if they come down at the same voltage. If the skinnier pack seems to come down with less energy, it's probably a smaller capacity or lower C rating.

I just experienced a somewhat similar situation as the OP except with the Zippy Flightmax 5,000 5S1P 20C packs (not the compacts).
 
On 10/16/12 I ordered 4 of these packs. Their web site indicated these were the last 4 packs available. I purchased them from the US Warehouse for $39.70 each with total shipping of $16.07. I received them in good shape and they were balanced at roughly 28% charge each. All 4 packs weighed within 4 grams of each other with the lowest weight being 609 grams. I have already flown them and am pleased so far with their performance.
 
On 11/1/12 I saw that they were in stock again and ordered 4 more of the same packs for the same price and shipping. I received them 2 days ago and they were also in good shape and balanced at roughly a 24% charge. They also weighed very close to each other, however, all 4 packs were much heavier with the lightest one weighing 651 grams. I'm thinking "what the heck" so I compared them. They had the same exact labels on all 8 packs yet the most recent 4 packs received were about 1/8" thicker in size and over 40 grams heavier each.
 
I have no doubt that the newest packs will have good performance but they are definitely heavier and slightly larger than the 1st batch I received just 2 weeks earlier.

Status: offline 		The Zippy Flightmax 5S 20C use to be listed at 620g. I have a set that is a couple of years old that are 625g with Dean's connectors. I just looked at the Hobbyking site and they are now listed at 640g. Looks like Flightmax is making some changes!

Status: offline 		FWIW, all 4 packs have the same labels and identifying marks, one of them is 1/8" narrower.

I flew my new (to me) Xigris yesterday with these batteries. The flight seemed OK (plane is still very new to me, I don't think I would have noticed any slight variance in power). But when I recharged the pack, one of the cells had triple the impedance of the other 4 cells (8.7milliohms versus 2.8 milliohms)

I'm guessing the pack was somehow mis-assembled and the high impedance cell is a lower mAH rating than the other 4 (5000mAH). I am WAY past the Hobby King return windows for batteries, the downside of buying in advance.

The "regular" Zippy 5000mAH 25C packs are performing well so I will likely pick up a couple more of those and chalk the bad Zippy Compact pack up to experience. I'll wait to just before the start of next season before buying any more packs so I can try them out within the warranty period.
