I'll wait for HL, it should be way cheaper and look & run just as good, just saying.

HL will just be a bad copy with crap electronics if they bring it out, you all want a correct tank right, with a little saving everyone can get one instead of spend 300 or 400 euro's on upgrades on your HL's they still have crap plastic underbody's
but that's just my opinion , in our club was also a heng long fan, he sold them all last year and is now riding with a tamiya tiger I, KT Henshell, a panther G, and an Sdkfz IV ausf J he admit its a whole other standard to begin with

I agree Karl. I started with a HL jagdpanther, was a great entry to the hobby but after I got a second hand Tamiya KT there was no going back. I now have 2 Tamiya king tigers a panther and a leo. I also have both Hooben releases with Tamiya electronics. If HL release something radically different then I might go for it but otherwise it's just not worth it.

Okay Rivetcounter. Can you point me to who in Germany makes this Conversion Kit?

Also, I disagree, I think a M-1 Abrams WOULD sell well here in the USA and well as its opponent, the T-72.

Heh. Seems like You WWII guys have Tamiya's ear. I think its time some of us ''Modern Warfare'' Folks got got the act and begin a persistent writing campaign to Tamiya.

Seems I was incorrect the Abram’s is the Hobby Engine version though converted with parts from http://www.afv-model.com/4711shop/index.php?language=en earlier this year I hosted this picture with captions

Absolutely no one was interested and didn’t comment, this tank has been available for a number of years and you can count on one hand the amount that have been converted on this forum, when you attend events in Germany and also visit their websites they are full of Leopards converted to every version that has ever been built and by a vast number of people that’s why I say there would be little interest in an Abram’s
This site will also offer parts to help convert

Tom this was built by a chap in Germany I don’t have his details but next event if he’s there I will get as much information as possible, all I can say is it’s heavily modified you can see by the scratches on the wheels they are alloy as is the lower hull sound system is Thomas Benidini, if you find the post on youtube send the chap a message he speaks English he will be able to tell you more

Happy to see any new Tamiya tank released! Shows that they have not abandoned the market. Needless to say, my wife might not be as happy as I am.

Great looking tank !!!
Similair  Abrams  is my next project

Is the gun barell taken from Tamiya Leo 2A6?   do You know what additional Tamiya parts are needed /except aluminium part/  to do it?
Any other shops in Germany ofers single parts for Leo2A6?

I like that Tamiya continue the line of Russian tanks, I hope that in future they also release   T-34/85 with great sound and modern  T-72 or T-90 .

Tamiyablog.com has an early photo - not sure if its a photochop or official press photo, but the designation 56035 suggests this is a kit that includes a 2.4ghz radio for the Japan home market.

*edit* the photograph appears to be identical to the 1/35th scale model artwork, so there's still no photos of the actual tank yet.

WSN, the gun is from Leopard 2A4 the A6 variant is longer and wasn’t sold to the Americans, not sure what parts are required best is to either contact AFV and ask them or ask on one of the German forums, The two shops I posted earlier plus Axles and Peter Muller offer many aftermarket parts in 1/16 for all the Leopard range plus you will find full kits of all the 6 and 8 wheeled armoured cars also the Elefant tank transporter

Look closer at the above photo, the device will lift the top deck back & up to change out the relocated hull tank battery.
