The Tamiya KV-1 sounding quite different

Agree what you say, but still this kit with KV sound can live (imho)... Not many of us cannot or hardly differentiate sounds from KV and IS-2

+ I am afraid the price would be higher if they have taped the real sound of IS-2

I am guessing that the US kits will be without a radio. I would consider a few months worth of Roman Noodles if the deal included a radio. As it stands, I am thinking a Panther or a Mark IV would be a nice addition to my Tamiya Tiger. Will probably wait to hear what people think of the JS-2 before deciding. I do want another Tamiya to at least serve as a target so I can learn the basics of battle. jot

Could some one pay me the aaf museums price as I can only see the deposit cost on the web site. I'm sure they will start trickling in import from the east more cheaply.

Knowing there is a BIG difference between the JS-2 and JS-3... I wonder if they will attempt that tank next?

Or maybe the T-10?

I know the history and that BOTH vehicles were junk... but the cool factor still exists for me and a parade of JS-3's rumbling down the street would be neat. Or this T-10.

The front armor angles are way too cool.

Are many working IS-2 tanks in Kubinka Museum? - I think that for such company like Tamiya it is not a problem to record original sound -
It seems that they recoded sound for KV-1 in this Museum? The cost for IS-2 Tamiya model is already very high ...

Would love to see an IS-3 too. Love the pike frontal plate, and would love to see how tamiya would fit everything in the frying pan turret.

Trying to get a price for it in the UK but I suspect it will be around the same as the Leopard 2.

Not really surprising the more common Tamiya tanks were released before I was born so they have had plenty of time to recoup the costs of the moulds at a time where everything was much cheaper. Interesting to read the posts regarding the sizes between the KV and IS from the odd measurements I have taken they are not as vast as people are making out.

I was mistakenly under the belief that the JS was bigger than the KV, but fellow RCU member PzJgr set me straight. He graciously provided me with a photo analyis of the sizes of each tank.

Here's the photos he sent me showing Tamiya 1/35 scale KV-1 kit vs. the Tamiya 1/35 JS-2 kit. The JS is noticeably smaller.

KV on the left, JS on the right...

KV on top, JS on the bottom...

Thank you for the size comparison and that is what I like best about the Tamiya KV-1, besides its important WWII history, it is a huge Soviet rc model compared to say my Tamiya Pz4 build.

The AAF Tank Museum emailed me a very good price for this post tsunami JS kit, but I should finish my Tamiya Leo 2A and the Gepard builds first.

One Tamiya Soviet tank build will be enough for me, so I will pass on the new Tamiya JS-2 kit. Plus, post WWII modern armor is now my interest.

I remember thinking that the Leo kit was way more then I would ever want to spend, but with the price of the JS-2 being what it is I am starting to look at it again. Will people let it fight against WWII tanks at Daneville?
If you have to stay in period,I guess i will get a Panther or an M -26. jot

And those kits are not quite correct to scale, using some of the 1:35 scale models is not a good idea as a number of Tamiya's 1:35 efforts are wrong.

The JS-1 was narrower than than KV, the tracks were also slightly narrower but from what I've been able to work out the the lower chassis was very close to the KV in terms of length. The JS-1 was longer but I think this was down to the shape of the rear, it is steeper and because of this goes out further than the KV rears (early or late).

The JS was also had less ground clearance than the KV but was overall slightly taller.

I am surprised Tamiya hasn't shut down the Hong Kong based companies selling them cheaper than the national retailers yet. It is quite easy to do as well.

I would rather see using the DML/DRAGON comparison than the Tamiya line. Just for the fact that Tamiya made a lot of motorized/remote controlled 1/35th tanks and then later they just produced them without the gear as a static kit and those dimensions were larger than what they should be because of the gear.
