thanks, its a pretty fun cruiser.  im hoping a 3 blade prop will give it some more pep this spring, but i haven't done any research so any input on a  potentially better prop would be helpful!

Making it a surface drive will improve performance quite a bit, exit the transon 1/8 -1/4 " to right of keel and 1/2" up from the keel to centre of driveline and im sure you will see more performance.

Try a X470/3, or Prather 275 or 280.
You might need another shroud, you cut that one a bit low. Once you start working the engine harder you need the cooling coming off the fan going across the head, forward motion is no where near enough air flow.

The props Mike mentioned should work on a surface drive. You could also try an X482. The X470/3 would be my first choice of the props mentioned. however they are all too large for you current subsurface drive. The boat was meant to use a surface drive. Doug

I ran a drive like that for a while, most of the top blade will still be out of the water.
Trying to find 12 year old pics on hard drives is the problem now.

just out of curiosity how does the octoura x470/3 compare to the prop shop B6717/3?

i see that the B6717/3 has a steeper pitch (4.48) but with a smaller diameter (67mm), but not really sure how the specs stack up with the octura's specs.

Personally i think youd be best with a bigger prop,a good prop for a lower reving motor is the prather 280.
