I have the following planes and engines and would like to know how you would match them and your opinions on my suggestions.

CG Tiger 40 (61" Wingspan)
Midwest Aerostar 40 Trainer (62" Wingspan)
Modeltech Magic Extra 300L (51" Wingspan)

OS 40 LA 2 stroke
Super Tigre S40 (Italian) 2 stroke
Magnum XLS 46 2 stroke
Saito 40 4 stroke
OS FS 52 Surpass 4 Stroke

I am thinking the following:
Aerostar 40OS 40 LA
Modeltech MagicMagnum XLS 46 or Saito 40
Tiger 40Super Tigre S40 or OS FS 52 Surpass

My main debate is the 4 strokes.....would they be enough for these airframes.

Thanks

IMO all of those combos would be underpowered.  There of course will be some that will dis-agree but I find underpoewered airplane more difficult to fly.

The Trainer flies great with the Super Tigre and the Carl Goldberg Tiger flies good with the Magnum XLS 46. But I had the feeling that the 4 strokes wouldn't be strong enough.

You can always pull the throttle back, but when you hit the front stop, that all there is!  Lived by this for 40 years and it has never failed.  I always have plenty of reserve power.

I know from experience that a Tiger 2 will fly well with a Os Max46AX and I think that would be roughly the same as the XLS46....I have no experience with the Aerostar 40 but my best guess would be to try the Super Tiger S40 ..

I have used OS 40 fp's on two diffrent midwest aerostars with good results loops and rolls without issue, I do not think the airframe needs all that power unless you need to hover. I think your os la would be a good fit for it, but the 52 surpass would be about perfict.

I think your 2-stroke options would be OK but your 4-stroke options would under power those planes.
