Hi Guys,

I´m flying a turbinator right now , but I want to buy a second  scale jet, but I can´t buy a big one, so I was thinking in the F-16 1/8

What do you guys think about this jet ?

1 - Fly Eagle
2 - Jet Legend
3 - Skymaster

Which brand  has  the best package /  performance in the air  / airframe quality  ?

About the turbine,  the jetcentral rabbit is a good choice ?

Best Regards

Man, Ive had all three and honestly Ive had the most fun with the least expected one: Fly Eagle sport.

Check out how it handles, thats a 450ft runway.

BTW, all three are excelent models. Avoid the FlyEagle with scale gear, it has a higher wing loading than the rest.
I use a Rabbit on all my 1/8 scale Vipers, really good choice.

I know it discountinued but I've really enjoyed my Tamjets 16 flys in and out of my 400' runway with ease. I'll probably be putting it on the classifieds in the next few weeks as I want a bigger one. A rabbit is a great choice for any of the 1/8 f16s....listen to falconwings hes kinda the unofficial expert on them

I had a Skymaster 1/8 scale F-16 for a while.. it flies great, and the landing gear is very good too. Traded it because I wasn´t seeing it very well at long distance.

However I still prefer the F-15 wich is about the same size..perhaps because it is easier to see.

Hi Falcon,

The rabbit has plenty of power is this video

Nice video !!

Hi Ebroens,  ( I read your article in figueira jets about landing a jet and about your viper , very nice !!! )

I just saw that jet legend has a new viper, and the size is good...maybe I change my mind about the F-16 and take the Viper

Best Regards

Roberto noooo, I don't want to lose you just yet!!

Just kidding, Vipers are great and fly good too.
If you do decide for an F-16, any size, just keep it light and enjoy the ride.

Obrigado
David

Hi Roberto, glad you enjoyed the article. I haven´t see the JL Viper flying yet, but if it flies like the 2m from Skymaster I bet you will like it very much too.

It is also likely that you will find the Viper easier to master than the F-16 as a second jet.

Abração, Enrique.

Agree with you David.. the F-16 and Viper are two "must have" scale aircraft in any jet modeler curriculum.. the first for its high alpha capability and military looks and the second for its beauty and precision in the air. Any of those are great for Roberto.

hahahah Actually I love the thunderbirds scheme....I would like  to have the money and space in my house to buy 2 or 3 jets

I saw that the jet legend has the bigger wings.....I think is the best option...what do you think ?

If you have to buy another F-16 today,  which brand would you buy  ?

Can´t stop to look to this pic

Best Regards

The most beautiful one is Jet Legend, no doubt. It is also very light. The scale gear is a little delicate, so it makes for a great second F-16.

But in terms of simplicity and overall good value, I pick FlyEagle Sport Version. I have been very surprised at how good of a model it is, simple, stout, and most important it looks like FlyEagle has turned around in terms of customer service - which is a big deal if you ever need aftermarket support.

I beat the crap out of mine last weekend for no apparent reason, did some terrible landings and the last one resulted on a broken nose gear strut.....I hit it really hard............but the retract unit and the gear mounts "took it". I went to pick up the model expecting to gather all sorts of wood parts from the wrecakage, but not at all. Went back home, replaced the strut and was back in business in 10 minutes.

On the Jetlegend no you can't. The scale gear is fully supported by the aft and fwd former, whereas the SM and FEJ have a mid station former that support the retract mounts. Same for nose gear, the JL does not have a support former for the retract mounts.

But dont worry, if you really like the JL version, just go for it. It is the best in terms of quality of hardware, finish, and overall weight. You also have two really good reps here in the US: Camlex and Global Jet Club. I personally deal with Camlex and they are great.

Do it already!

I agree with what the guys are saying, but i still think the jet legend overall is the best choice. I know you say your not bothered about the undercarrage, but it looks absolutly superb with the scale gear and doors.

I have a cermark F-16 with the sport gear and i'm seriously considering fitting the flyeagle scale gear and making doors.

The only thing that spoils the aeroplane is the 'stick' undercarrage.

John, that is not the same scale gear that came with my JL F-16, the one you have seems like it has rotating wheels, on mine they were fixed. Is this a new version? if so, it looks so cool.

David, your quite right they do rotate. They are the scale gear that comes with the flyeagle advanced version of what your flying in the video, which you quite rightly say is way way too heavy at 29lb's wet !

The F-16 in the TB scheme is the cermark which i would like to install the flyeagle scale gear.

No, they are not. You may run into a couple of used or new ones in the classifieds forums, but spare parts are hit and miss at Tams.

I would agree, if the Tam model was available, I would have suggested it.

Sort of a 'for sale' ad for a Tam's F-16:
I have Tam's original prototype F-16 - the version with the ailerons. I got it from Ronnie (Stahl...maybe?) out of Texas. It has the stick gear, hangar rash, and untold number of flights on. Most of the formers for the gear need to be pulled and rebuilt. It looks like hell but was a great first jet and would make a great everyday flyer. Anyhow, I was kicking around the idea of selling it in a few months. The plane wouldn't be available until March (I'm in Korea, the plane is in Hawaii). I'll leave the retracts, servos, fuel/air systems and the brake valve. It flew fine on a P-60, but as is the case with most 16s, they are a lot more fun with more thrust.
If there's interest, tell me what it's worth.
Sorry for the temporary hijack of the page. Now back to talking about F-16s.

Thanks
Jeremy

yes thats Ronnie Stein, aka "Shok". That version is same as Cermark, but with upgraded Tams hardware. Its a really good flier, and only needs 12# engine.
