Status: offline 		I have a TF Giant P47. Installing Robart retractable tail gear, will turn using pull/pull to a servo. Also using rudder servo. I want to link the two together, but don't want the tail wheel turning while retracted in the bay, while using the rudder. I'm lost as to the best way to make this all work.

Status: offline 		Sorry I am not familiar with your tailwheel but other nosewheel systems I have used functioned because as retraction took place the the pull pull wires were slackened.

Status: offline 		You can also place a micro switch in the pulse line so that activated the switch will disconnect the pulse from your tail wheel steering servo when retracted.

Status: offline 		DenisS: The TF GS P-51 has a retractable tailwheel setup like you describe for their P-47. The pull-pull lines do go slack when the wheel is up. I (and others) added a small spring on each side of the tailwheel to keep it centered while retracted. The small springs do not affect the movement in the down position. Seems to work well.

I have a picture somewhere. Will post it if I can find it.

Absolutely, BUT, Abu, have you ever tried to taxi a model in a cross wind???:-))))))))))))))

Virtually impossible without being able to control the tail wheel.

Status: online 		Like the others have stated, the Pull-Pull Wires will go Slack and preventing the Tail Wheel from Turning while Retracted, adding springs will keep the Tail Wheel Straight, so the Wheel doesn't get hung Up in the Bay, I used this set up on my TF Giant P-40, here is a picture showing the Springs.

Status: offline 		I use a seperate servo for the tail wheel steering of the nose wheel steering. When the gear is retracted my streering servo is turned off. That way I don't have any steering while the wheel is retrached. How you do this by your Tx depends on what brand and model you have.

Status: offline 		I tried a wooden skid with a 1/16 diameter piano wire "wear proofer" and our strip wore thru that wire in about 3 takeoffs.:-(((((((((((((

This is how I did it on my Zirolli p47

Pull-pull system off a servo wheel for the tail wheel steering tied to a regular servo arm for the Rudder, cables go slack when the gear is retracted up

p.s.
The tail retract is actuated by a hitec 5645 programed to 10% speed (no air on this one, mains are Lado actuated also)
