Status: offline 		 Hello I have a sundowner 50 with an os 55 ax trying to find the right prop for this combination. I am looking to get as high as a speed as I can. I was thinking of something like a 10x8 10x9. Any suggestions?           Adam

Status: offline 		I would probably start with a 10x7 or a 10x8.  Do not over prop it and bog the engine down.

Status: offline 		I was running a 10x8 with a 46ax. I was thinking of going up 1 in either pitch or diameter. I was leaning toward a 10x9

Vic, it's very cool to be able to see all the real world results that you recorded and all of the different ways that modelers went to get those results.
You guys had some really busy days since this event first began that will be great memories to last a lifetime.

Might be better sticking that 55 in a viper 500 to get some speed.....?

FWIW I haven't given anyone a 250 sticker...ever. And only one guy ever hit 225 with only two breaking 200.

My link to the rally results was merely for the op to look up his exact set-up since George S has brought one two years running and give emperical data.

If you want a level pass great, if you like a little dive action? Thats great too.

The radar gun operator stands behind the pilot. His thinking is that the pilot isn't going to hit himself.

Status: offline 		Other than 35 years ago clipping myself with a .15 flying wing, the closest I have come to that is with my Magnum R.. kinds forgot about the closing speed as I flew it towards myself in a shallow dive at full tilt.

Standing behind the pilot is always the safest choice. Even if he hits himself, human shields are quite effective.

Status: offline 		Was flying PBF combat with 2 other flyers earlier this spring. One whom I trusted and the other guy was fairly new to combat flying.

We were standing close to each other, approximately 1 ft. between each of us and the in-experienced pilot lost control of his pbf (powered by a .40 supertiger I believe) and "Knife edged"it between myself and the other flyer at full throttle !!! Don't see how he could of not have hit any of us as we too thought standing close we would stay away from each other. PBF went into the pits area and just missed other planes in the pits. Needlessly to say, the pilot was horrified with what he had just done and could not fly anymore that day, thinking about "What" could have happened. All I remember was a blur going past me. Would not want to know what "could have happened" had it hit one of us square on. Sometimes God is looking out after us !!!

Run an APC 10X9 with a tuned red Jet muffler or tuned pipe. Id stay away from 10X8, 30% and cooler plug on the 55, it will make more power, but it takes a toll on engine life. Expensive fuel consumption goes up, flight time goes down, just not worth it unless you are racing.
Even so the bearings will go south. When the get "gritty" replace them with the stainless bearing kit from only from RC Bearings. Their rear bearing is the only one on the market that's stainless + plastic retainer and it makes a difference in my opinion. I believe the front bearing in the kit is steel, but front's never seem to go bad, so go ahead and use it with confidence.
