Hello everyone - is anyone out there aware of a newer technology Mig-17 that is available or will be available anytime soon for turbine engines in the 80-120N size? I know of the Golden West Mig-17 from the old days and the small foam Lander 90mm one but... I'm looking for something a little more.

For those that know the -17 it's not just a "newer" Mig-15 - there are a lot of significant aerodynamic differences, it looks a lot different to the eye and it's also a Vietnam bird with a lot of historical scale options both in the day and for current civilian aerobatic teams.

Hi Eddie,

I have a GWM Mig-17 with a p-70. I think this bird is a bit difficult to model due to its wing sweep and anhedral. the landing gear angles are a bit complicated if scale features are desired.

This is my Mig 17

Mike thanks for the link (I remember that one) your -17 caught my eye when you built it - beautiful work! How do you like it these days after having owned it for a while? Any tricks or traps the -17 has that you've gotten used to? How has she held up?

Hi Eddie

It has only flown 4-5 times. It's been a hanger queen since. Its a rare bird so I hesitate to fly it. In fact I have considered selling it and have someone else make a better use of it. Flies great but definitely needs more flights to comment on tricks or traps. Here is a recent photo with the others.
