Status: offline 		That ESC is not intended to be for 1/8 truggy, but it would work with the righ gearing.

I would recommend this ezrun 150a & 4 pole Leopard 2000kv

Biggest problem is, if u want it to be fast and to have buckett loads of torque, u kind of have to use a lipo. They are very hard to blow up... dont know why u would think that???

Status: online 		depends on the weight of the truggy.
the redcat 1/8's use the ezrun 80amp esc on 4s lipo with a 2350kv motor. They are fairly light tho (comparied to a ofna 1/8)

But as mentioned, with proper gearing it wont be a problem. The key is the right KV motor....right gearing....and heat sinks help.

You will have a hard time powering a 1/8 brushless truggy on NIMH. You wont get very good runtimes. Lipos are much safer than many think. Use a pair of nimh batts on a brushless 1/8 and they will be 130 degrees or hotter when you get done. a pair of lipos will hardly be warm to the touch.
Lipos can only be dangerous 2 ways.....over charge them, or puncture them. Hardcased packs pretty much negate the later and modern charges make it almost imposible to do the 1st.

Status: online 		I use a 120A Castle in my 1/8th truggy (was a converted nitro) with a 2200kv motor with no issues.

as for NiMh I'd be wary of them exploding due to getting damaged from the massive abuse they will be under, and not made for.

If they can get to the point they can't be touched in something like my nephews stock 2wd pede the shrink wrap will probably burn off them after a run in a 1/8th truggy


nitro you forgot the other way to damage them run the cells under 3v a pop then go charge em, or let them get extremely out of whack and only fast charge them which would let one cell get low, and one go well over the 4.2v max. Also not monitoring the battery during charge to make sure it don't puff.

Status: offline 		That combo would work as has been said already but I would go with the 150A version instead. that ESC is only rated for 4s. The 150 a ESC is rated for 6s and will be much happier pushing an 1/8 truggy around.that motor isn't bad though its right in the range of a good truggy motor. On lipos: don't be afraid of them catching fire. you almost have to try before that will happen. If you just use a lttile common sense, keep the cells ballanced, and don't let the cells get too loo it will be fine. If you are running 1/8 truggy you pretty much have to run lipo.

Status: offline 		Lipo battery are very safe, They are in laptops, mobile phones ect. As long as you follow basic rules with them such as don't stab them you should be fine. Most Lipo chargers will refuse to charge a Lipo if the voltage is too low or high anyway

I got a 1/8 truggy with a motor ESC combo, and I am now wondering if it is possible to charge two batteries from the same charger using a Y wiring arrangement. IE the single plug goes on the charger and a battery plugs into each of the other plugs. NON LI-POs btw

Status: online 		if they aren't lipo(or life) don't bother, as a 1/8th truggy will make short work of NiMh's

also no real gain to charging 2 at once off one charger with a Y harness as it will take 2X longer(and most chargers will timeout that I've used by the time they would charge)

Status: offline 		I've been getting $25 2s 5500mah lipo from eBay, we might be able to help u find some batteries for under $50 and the IMAX b6 digital chargers are under $20 for the clones.... So worth it

Status: offline 		To work out the out put of a battery u need to get the mah rating, divide it by 1000 then times is by the c rating

For example
5000mah / 1000 X 40c = 200amps

6000mah / 1000 X 30c = 180amps

2200mah / 1000 X 60c = 132amps

As u can see the c rating is nothing by it self, it's just a multiplier of the mah rating converted to amps

I was just wondering if that was enough to power the car decently
