Status: offline 		Hey guys I just ordered  an AX10 Ridgecrest to fool around with as I build my Savages.. The kit I purchased included a Duratrax 1800MAH battery and Duratrax Onyx 100 charger.  I know these are cheap but free is free.  What is the run time like on the 1800MAH?  

Are there any problematic parts with this truck? I'd like to go ahead and order a few parts as back up just so I'm ready.  Can't wait to get this thing in.

Status: offline 		the maker of this http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11103222/tm.htm post had issues with the C-hubs stripping it seems

recomen going over the screws to make sure they are in tight, and the motor is mounted securely, and meshed properly (probably should use loctite on it to hold it)

Status: offline 		Yea I saw that page and read that screw is a common problem.  Although most people don't seem to have quite the trouble he did.  Maybe he got a lemon.  I love that Silverado body though, do you know which one it is?

Status: offline 		The only problem that I have had with my Ridgecrest was the screws coming loose that hold the steering knuckles on. I put a small bit of CA on the bottom threads on the screws and they dont back out but I can still remove the screws if I need to.

Status: offline 		All of the axials with the course screw that holds the C-hub have this problem. They back out and it snaps the C-hub. You can either use the ca glue method mentioned above, or take them out and thread a 3mm fine Thread pitch (same length) into them. I did this on my Wraith and Ridgcrest.

Status: offline 		Well my first thoughts are this thing feels really cheap.  I'm surprised it sells for over $300..  I'm definitely going to have to beef it up with aluminum parts.

Status: offline 		The parts I think you need to replace with alloy or stainless are.

Both front and rear upper and lower links (alloy or stainless)

Steering links (alloy or stainless)

Knuckles and c hubs (alloy)

And cut some 6mm alloy rod to size and place nside the drive shafts to help keep them from collapsing. (Twisting) .

This is what I'd do first. Then I'd move onto the shocks.

Status: offline 		Those are basically what I was looking at upgrading.  Just add diff covers (for looks ) and some new rubber as those tires are not that great.

do not use loctite on plastic it does something to screw it up (I think it melts it, or eats it can't remember which)

Status: offline 		I didn't end up using anything on the screws.  I just tightented them before I ran it (they were a little loose out of the box).  I've ran it for about 45-60 min and so far they are still nice and tight.  I'm guessing the people that were having issues might not have double checked the screws before running it.

Status: offline 		Keep an eye on them, they will back out at some point. Once course threaded fasteners begin to loosen they will back out, a fine threaded fastener will stay put even if its not as tight. They don't back out of plastic easily. Do not use Loc-Tite in plastic. When/if you remove the fastener it will bring most of the threads out with the fastener.
As far as mods go, the first one, one of the most effective (I have found) is to flip the lower shock/link mounts 180 degrees so the longer end is down. This will lower your ride height slightly, but makes it way more stable, not as prone to tipping. I have done this to both my Ridgecrest and my Wraith. The Ridgecrest does have a lot of plastic. I was a little disappointed when I took it out of the box. But it has been a great rc. Axial uses good quality plastics that seem fairly tough and durable.

Status: offline 		Yea.. the plastic was a bummer.  My brother bought a AX10 knock off for $125 and the majority of it is aluminum.

Over the Thanksgiving break I plan on flipping the shock mounts and swapping the battery location if I can find someone locally that has the extended wiring harness plug.

They are obviously built different since mine is more of a basher but considering his was less than half the cost the quality of the parts feel better.
