I have a indoor rc helicopter that gets charged from remote control. Remote control takes 6 1.5v batteries which go low after a couple of charges and i have to replace them which is a bit expensive. Can i use 6v 700mah rechargeable battery for my remote?

The 6V pack is only 5 cells, just substitute 6 rechargeable Nimh for the non rechargeable cells.

I can't help with helicopters. I only fly fixed wing planes.
A 9.6V rechargeable (8 cells) is higher voltage than the transmitter is designed for if it takes 6 AA size cells.

so .6 volts are extra. would it harm remote or should not make any difference? i have heard that brand new alkaline cells outputs 1.6 v in start, so 6 brand new 1.5v alkaline cells also mean 9.6 volts.

But an 8 cell Nimh pack is not 9.6V, that's only its nominal voltage. Fully charged an 8 cell Nimh pack is around 11.6V, not 9.6V
