I have two Ten ft scratch built spitfires on the go...Plus I am building a BUSA 1/4 J3 Cub , also after Christmas I will be assembeling a Hanger 9 1/4 Scale P18 Super Cub that I will be putting on custom made floats...I like to make my own solid foam floats skined with fiberglass and systems west epoxy... I am going to be busy...The Spitfire's is a joint project that 4 of us are doing...Two are being made in my shop because my buddy dosent have room to build his...plus this is his first big build......My BUSA Cub keeps getting put on the back burner...I have the fuse almost completed , the tail feathers are done , I have not started the wings yet...I have just had a massive Stroke and I am praying that it will still allow me to complete my projects and I be able to fly in the spring... So far so good..The Stroke is in the back of my head and it effects my speach , eyesite , balance , memory and I cant rember what else , I should be okay.......If it dosent get any worse ...

bikerbc,

I have a fair idea how friends that sympatize can help keep up the morale.

My main hobby activity over this coming winter is designing a PA 30 Piper Twin Comanche.

I have quite a bit done and not being able to find a suitable gear retract system I am now working on designing my own.

It is a fascinating and challenging project.

RCAiir makes short kits of Classic Pattern models and I picked up a few. I'm going to go simple this winter and build the Bridi UFO he makes. Good looking model, mechanical retracts and I'm use an OS 61 FSR on a pipe.
Also will clean up the shop with completion of a Gieseke Nobler kit and my son will complete his Sterling Mr. Mulligan, both C/L models.

I was in my attic today and dug out an old Laser 200 that wound in a far corner of my attic I think nearly a decade ago after one of the guys tore it up on takeoff. The original kit manufacturers name was Precision Built for those of you that remember them and they had very nice kits. Anyway I think I will make this my winter project by stripping the covering, making repairs, and placing the entire airframe on a diet so I can run a DA 50 In the nose.

You were not out of topic and I never said or implied that.

I wished to talk to you about something that would have been out of topic so I sent you a PM.

You must have realized that if you read the PM.

Gene, that looks great. What size engines? I'm in line for a Northeast Aerodynamics Twin Air 45. The owner is making a run of short kits and I figured I would give it a try. Keep us informed on the Skylark. Bring it in spring to the meet.

bikerbc,

I was sad to hear about your stroke.
I can only wish you a full and prompt recovery.

I have no way of knowing if a PM recipient has read his PM.
If there is a way to know I regret not knowing how.

I understood you were designing a retract gear system for your plane.
I am in the process of designing one as well.

I was curious to compare and see your approach to the design.

Please take it easy and get lots of rest.

Best regards from Zor

My friend dug out his overly built B-26 Marauder, with a 101" wingspan. He is looking to rebuild he wing as the person who built it did so with 1/4" plywood ribs, and that dang wing weighs in at a whopping 15 pounds, and isnt even finished yet.

In any case, he asked what kind of retracts it would use.  It isnt a Bates build, but another popular plans maker, which escapes me at the moment.

I found it, they are Bob Parcell plans.

Did a Google search, not much at all out there regarding this particular set of plans, only one link and that was to scalercmodels, and a few links to forums, one of which happens to me mine from way back when I first saw the plans.

bikerbc,

I do not have any PM from you in my incoming PM box.
I looked at your profile and did not see your email address in there.

There is provisions to send you a PM or an email but sending an email via the forum does not (to my knowledge) reveal the email address.

You just posted your email address in the forum in your post above.
I suggest you edit that post and remove your email address. You are inviting scams and junk mail since anyone can read it in the post.

I will email you soon concerning the retract gear system.

Best regards from Zor

I don't plan on doing a build thread. I will probably not start on the airplane until January and when completed I will post a picture, if I remember.

I am building a BlueJay kit called the Dirty Birdy. It's a classic pattern ship designed by Joe Bridi. Should be lots of fun. I have Rossi and muffled tuned pipe, and retracts.

Yes... it will be fast!

Scratch building a A7 Corsair prop jet based on the House of Balsa A7. Building it 1 1/2 times in size giving a wing span just under 60".
Using the canopy from the Jet Hangar's A7. Thinking it will take a OS 61 fx.
Posting pics of wing build in progress and will start on fuse after wing is done.....
