Hi, I'm working on my Trex 450 kit and have run into some questions. I had a little trouble getting the rotor head completely apart... getting all the bearings out can be a little difficult while making sure you're not scratching anything up. But some of the other bearings, for example, the two main bearings that support the main rotor shaft, I can't seem to get out of the metal seating they're in. And I don't want to force them. Same with one or two of the bearings in the tail rotor. If I can't pull them out, I can't fully pack them with grease.

Any suggestions? Purchase a bearing removal tool or something... or can I just use oil in those bearings instead of packing them with grease?

Also, the screws that hold the servos in screw through the plastic servos, but into metal. I assume you should lock tite these screws as well (just avoid getting it on the servos?

Thanks for any advice!

Forgot one additional thing. There is a torque tube bearing and rubber bearing holder inside the tail boom, that the torque tube runs through. The instructions show to use CA to glue the torque tube to the bearing. Or is it the bearing to the rubber bearing holder? Either sounds odd. And then you add grease between the rubber bearing holder and the tail boom. Here's a link to the instruction manual... there is a diagram of this at the bottom section of page 12: http://www.align-trex.co.uk/images/manuals/450PRO.pdf

Thanks!

For getting the bearing out, you can put them in the over (toaster oven works also) for 10 min or so at about 250 deg or so. Take the part out and tap it on a wooden block and the bearings should fall out. Remember how the thrust bearing go back in place, they only go in one way. Also on the thrust bearings, the part with the balls is sort of cupped. Pack this with grease then reassemble but make sure you put the cupped part towards the center. If you assemble the other way, the fresh grease could be thrown out when you spool it up.

As for the servos, just the smallest amount of lock tight would work. Personally, I like using the loctite stick. Just a dab will do ya.

Torque tube, the CA glue is used to hold the bearing on the shaft. When it comes time to change the shaft (after a crash) the bearing will just knock off and you can reuse it if your new shaft has no bearing. Just make sure it's still smooth and not notchy or you'll have to replace it also. The grease is for the out side of the rubber grommet to help it slide down the inside of the tube. You can also use the tube that the torque tube was in to help press the shaft inside the tube. (hope that make sense)
