i have a ys 1.20 fs, or se i guess it's an fs or se, because the throttle can mount on either side and there is no low speed needle valve. bought it used. it had little compression but now has a new ring and dia in it. running it on 30% heli fuel.............thanks

Just my 2 cents G, based on a few years running this fantastic brand.

You wouldn't run your Ferrari on regular gas or take Raquel Welsh to Mcdonalds,
so why not give this mota what it deserves ie 30% nitro with 22% oil?
You'll never look back.

yes, i will take your advice and use ys 20/20 if i can get it or 30% nitro 22% oil heli fuel. the only thing is the cost of 30% heli, here is 28.00 a gallon. so i'll limit my flights to 2 flights per afternoon on this plane. i have four others that use 10% fuel so it ain't like i ain't fly'in...thanks...

YS engines are not low compression engines. Did you grind in the valves with toothpaste ? Did you take the glaze off of the sleeve before you replaced the ring ?

no i didn't remove the glaze on the sleeve, i didn't want to mess with it. it looked perfect. yes i did toothpaste in the valves and checked them for leaks and had no leaks in the valves. it's building compression some what. i guess as i run it, it will get better..................thanks

The regulator has a plunger that is under spring pressure, it is supposed to close and keep the fuel from getting to the carb. As the engine runs pressure pulses from the crankcase act on the diaphragm and open and close the plunger. If you have fuel running out of the carb the regulator is not closing. Given the age of the engine it could be as simple as needing a new spring, do not be tempted to "adjust" the existing spring by stretching it as you will open a whole can of worms, or it could be junk in the regulator.

At idle the (up to about 2400 RPM) the regulator stays shut and the engine siphons fuel, above 2400 RPM the plunger starts coming off it's seat and injecting fuel. Get the regulator leak fixed first so you don't pull your hair out.

When you replaced the ring did you give the liner a nice cross-hatch pattern on it to help seat the new ring? Also did you clean the ring groove out so the new ring could move freely?
