The only way that you're going to get a decent volume of smoke is to use smoke cartridges. Smoke

I've seen some pretty good smokes on electrics but I dont think thats what they had in mind

Just leave off the heat shrink tubing!!!. You'll get lots of smoke- only once per fight though. Sorry- just couldn't resist teasing. Actually, we had a dunderhead in the group that did just that. Neatest trail of white smoke you ever saw for 100 feet!!!!

Yes...that would be a gas engine in your "electric aircraft."

Smoke requires heat. There was an electric smoke generator advertized  in some of the R/C mags. It was expensive, and used a fair amount of electric energy. No idea what was used as fluid for the smoke.
