Hi all, just got an RTR brushed setup for cheap as. Ran it twice on the stock NiMh 2000mah battery, then 4 times on a 2s 5500mah LiPo. I noticed it getting slower, then today it just doesnt turn over at all. Even direct power to the motor wires it does nothing. Should this happen?? It is all stock besides the battery, and I was told it can handle 2s lipos...

I have ordered and EZ run motor comobo for it anyway, but I guess this should'nt happen?

Cheers.

Odds are very likley that you over heated the motor and i burned up. Direct power to the motor and nothing happens means the motor is done. This is VERY easy to do when running modern batteries as they provide LOOOONG run times.

There are a number of things that can cause this.

1) Over geared. Typically the pinion is too large. If the truck was used there is a chance that someone swapped pinions to get a little more speed out of the truck.
2) Running in Grass. A big no no for stadium trucks.. Stick to dirt. Grass can QUICKLY over heat a motor.
3) Something is binding on the truck. Maybe a wheel was too tight. Remove the motor and roll the truck on the floor.. Does it roll smoothly and easily.

If money is tight you can pick up an S-600 motor for around $15 or a Traxxas 12T Titan for about $20.

Regardless of which you choose I would recommend that you get a temp gun to monitor the motor temps. Temps should never exceed 160F.

If you have questions feel free to PM me. I'm happy to help.

Hi, thanks John!

The truck is new, with no binding and stock gearing. I did notice it slowing down on say run 4, and on run 6 I ran it in grass for maybe 30seconds. I am now thinking that was the cause, a long with longer run times. I have order a new esc and motor combo anyway, but might pick up the traxxas 12T as you mentioned for a backup.

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated!

Daniel

No problem. When you get the new combo make sure you get a temp gun and monitor the motor temp for the first couple of runs to make sure the motor is not exceeding 160F.
