Status: offline 		can't comment on that pipe I know alot of pepole use the KS pipe/s though with good results

what airframe ? you sure your tunnel is long enough ??

its kinda rare to have a long tunnel in 50cc airframes .

Status: online 		i have 2 of those and they are great! mine are on 2-DA-60. i also ran them on a brison 3.2 and a BME 55 all with great results 300-600 more RPM on the same props with a pitts muffler....

The airplane is a 33% Laser 200 that I designed and built. I have been flying one of them for a couple months now, Airraptor has the other one. The fuse is set up so that just about any muffler, pipe, canister setup will work. I run a KS flex header and MTW canister in mine. The ES pipe should work well. Jeff, we may want to consider a fibergless tunnel cover to reduce the amount of open fuse area. Over in the Pattern forum user MTK was running an ES pipe and DLE combo, he has lots of good first hand knowledge.

Status: offline 		I sampled one of the supplied Pipes from Peakmodels when I purchased a DLE 55 from them. I was a bit skepical on the cheap price and metal, but was pleasantly surpised how its holding @ 50 flights plus and it reduce the noise ALOT.
Not sure if the is any RPM gain, never tached it.

Status: offline 		I think with the ES Composites pipe you pick up 200-300 RPM and the power curve is fairly flat compared to other pipes. The pattern guys used them alot when most guys were running 1.40 2 strokes. I have seen a few of them and they are very well made and super light. I was going to go with one on the Laser but got a deal on the DLE55 KS/MTW setup as a package deal so thats what I went with. Mine spins a Falcon 23X9 CF at 6,800. The ES pipe should do the same prop at 7,000 to 7,200.  Will make that 16 lb Laser scream.

Status: offline 		The DLE 55 responds very well to the ES composites pipe. A friend of mine has that set up.
Works very well and really likes a Falcon 24x8 Carbon prop

Status: offline 		I received my pipe today and I have to say it is one Awesome piece of equipment. Very Very light weight. I cant wait to run the engine with it. its well worth the 250 dollars for it.

Geesh guy, never never strap an ESComp pipe to the outside of a plane. Always run it inside a belly.

On the other hand, they are so lightweight, they just float down like a feather. If you can run faster than me (I can't run with these rickety knees recently replaced) you might catch it on the fly...LOL

Seriously, I always soft mount the pipe on a Dave Brown type or similar hush pipe mount. And I always wrap the area of contact with nylon or teflon tape to keep abrasion at bay. Or a piece of bicycle inner tube. On the connection to the header, you can use turbo hose which will last maybe 100 flights. But you can just zip tie this to the header stems.

Teflon tubing also works well except it tends to leak and requires klunky hose spring clamps to hold it. Ed Skorepa gave me a simple tip I want to pass on....screw in a couple 4-40 button heads into the header stem and pipe stem to serve as bumpers.

My solution is probably the best tho, if I may say so. I make my own connectors from ceramic fabric and high temp, gas resistant Permatex Ultra Copper. These are much thinner and they handle 1500 F no sweat, so 600F is tweedle thumbs time. This solution allows you to form any configuration to fit a specific application. If you don't want to tackle the job, I offer a service for that. PM me if interested

Status: offline 		Great info as usual Matt, thanks loads. I will sure use your clamp ideas but no tunnel on my profile plane. Anything wrong with the coupler material that Mac's Products sells, their gray silicone? material?

Matt and all, do you see any reason I should not try a mousse can setup on my 20cc? I've had great results with them on glow but I don't know if a gasser would respond in the same way. It's nearly Christmas and Bud usually sells beer in great cans for making pipes out of this time of the year. I think they even have 'threads' on the end that can be twisted tightly onto the coupler without a clamp. I used that threaded type of a mousse can on my Super Tigre 90 and man did it come alive.

None! The mousse can may be as good as a canister, maybe better. Pipes on really small gassies like a 20cc may tend to be peaky so a mousse can is likely a better solution....

I don't own a really small gassie so I don't speak from experience there

Suggestion Speed,

Try a 3 blader on the DLE. It will set you back around 85$ for a Mezjlik 20x12 0r 21x12 but you might find it an even better combo. It will be quieter too with better downline brakes. Any time you can quiet down a prop, you are converting more power to thrust
