Status: offline 		I am starting my Diamond Dust build, and am going to put an OS 32SX in it.
I have the stock muffler, an Ultrathrust muffler, and a Macs tuned pipe for the 32SX.
I am looking for suggestions on props for these setups.
I am not use to anything this fast, so will probably have to work up to the tuned pipe.
I am a very experienced modeler but haven't flown anything over about 90mph, and this was a much larger plane.

Status: offline 		Buy a bag full of APC 8x8s.........!
If the engine isn't fully broken in, start off flying a few 8x7s until you're sure that the engine is dialed in good.
You will have loads of fun with this engine, plane and the exhaust system options that you have.
The tuned pipe will obviously improve rpm, look for about 18,000 with the 8x8 prop on 15% nitro.......but the difference in actual airspeed [vs stock exhaust], wont be stupendous.

Status: offline 		Enjoy going faster than 90. It's going to happen!

Careful with torque rolling the plane to the right on take off.
When I have launched DDs in the past it has been simply point it at about 60 degrees up, with 45 degrees rotation and let it go.

I bought a couple of 8X8 props, and will bench run tomorrow.
A club member that flys pylon and speed planes suggested a 7.5X8.5 for a little less load, but I couldn't even find that.

If you go to APC's website, they might list a prop like that. Last time I was at that website they had made it easier to navigate. If you have any questions, they have always been readily available to talk. For what it's worth, the standard 8x8 will get you at least 95% of your top MPH no matter how much time and money you want to devote to searching for that last little bit of ooomph.

Status: offline 		Dont wast time on those "pylon" props those are for a "pylon" Planes with "Pylon" engines tunring over 19,000 and unloading to around 21,000 or so.

8x8 once you get used to it. A 9x6 to start with for first flight or two.

Status: offline 		I got to run the old 32SX yesterday.
I got 17500 rpm with the Ultrathrust muffler, the APC 8X8 prop, and 20/20 fuel. I didn't have the time to set up the tuned pipe, so that will have to happen another day.
This set up will be more than fast enough to start.
I guess the advantage of the tuned pipe would be more rpm, and moving more of the weight to the rear of the plane. Probably a lighter setup.

Status: offline 		The pipe makes the plane sound better......
It took me about an hour to hacksaw little 1/4" pieces of the header off, then deburr, then get a tach reading, then cut off some more, deburr, tach read.............until I made a 1/4" cut that did not show any gain. At that point I set the last sliver of tubing inside the center of the silicone coupler and put the system together for the final mounting of the pipe to the plane. I needed to open up the covering on the starboard wing panel so that I could build a platform for the pipe mount. This was more work than the actual tuning, but it's a hobby [not actual work].
The end results are hardly worth the time and effort as far as MPH is concerned, your Ultrathrust gets the job done just fine.
Doing the pipe though, is good "training" so that you will have advanced your education another notch if you want to go deeper into the Speedplane hobby.
OTOH, there is a good reason why Q40 pylon racers don't mess with tunes pipes and they have planes that do 200 mph.
