I just installed a brand new air retract system and am having issues with them retracting. They pop out and lock ok, but do not go back in with any authority at all - they don't lock. Even when I take the struts off, they don't go back in and lock.

I've check for binding issues and I can easily move the retract hinge all the way in and out (when not under pressure). When it is under pressure I can feel pressure pushing it out, but in the other direction there just isn't good pressure if any at all.

I have the red Robart Valve - started at 2 turns out on the needles and from there went all over, not much difference.

I have a Robart pressure gauge which told me the pressure was always good between 80-100, mostly right around 100 though as I kept pumping it back up thinking it just wasn't pumped up enough.

So if there are no binding issues and pressure is good - where am I going wrong?

Wish I had the cash to just buy electric retracts....

Check for any debris or obstruction in the lines for the retract cycle.

Most of us have moved on and use the ESM electric retracts

Double check the valve for normal function as well. Best of luck.

Figured it out. The ESM quick couplers I got are way too restrictive. I took them off and put the valve directly to the in/out lines and it worked great. So I ordered some Robart quick release connectors, I'll give them a try I guess.

Good job! Glad you were able to fix them rather than bearing the expense of electrics. A lot of the problems with discounted products is their failure to clean the components prior to assembly. After a while, disassembly and cleaning becomes a routine after purchase.
