Bearing issues mostly. The crank wasn't the brightest idea in the world either which didn't help matters.

The first version bottom ends are junk. The crankshaft was made up from two single cyl.cranks. I broke two before the boat made it off the bench. the cranks break at the center.  Only a small number were sold . Two months later Mr Park released a new design that has a single piece crank. The second version is a great engine. I have 4 and run 2-3 times a week.

Hey Al,
I know you run your inlines a lot. So what is the trick to keeping the flywheel from coming loose? Are you using an EZ Start? I just ordered the EZ Start with the steel starter pawl that Gizmo sells along with flywheel #3! I am hoping the steel pawl will hold better than the aluminum one from the first EZ Starter.

Use a steel nut to seat the flywheel, Piston stop is a no no. I put the flywheel on before the pistons/cylinders on. Use a plastic screwdriver handle to wedge the crank and seat the flywheel with a steel nut (Tight) remove the steel nut then install the EZ start pawl using red Loctite on the threads. If you are using a thin front mount the pawl can contact  the starter with enough force to unscrew the pawl.

The steel nut sounds like a good idea. I am using a Gizmomotors motor mount set up. It does not look to be thin but I will check for clearance between the pawl and starter just to be sure. Thanks for yor help.
