I would never leave any decision up to some forum. Again the question in my original post is who sells the most transmitters. That’s it, pretty simple.

That depends where you are. In Europe Futaba is the number 1 selling brand. In the USA it could be Spektrum but thats certainly not a fact since no one has been able to present any sales data. Spektrum is certainly popular in the USA>
In other markets, JR is very popular and others again Multiplex is popular.

Status: offline 		I would also agree it depends on where you are, At my field about five years ago it was Spektrum before that Hitec was very popular but now it's Airtronics.
We also still have a lot of Futaba 9C's at my field but rarely see the 10c and I have yet to see the Hitec Aurora at my site. Ask this question in a year or two
and could be a total different answer. I know the Futaba 8FG is a popular radio but I cant recall seeing any at my site, Many of the turbine and contest
guys switched from JR to Futaba 12FG and 14MZ  in the last few years.

Not so sure about that, other brands such as Graupner and Multiplex and JETI are very strong in Europe. Spektrum is also gaining poplularity quite quickly. JR is virtually non-existant in Europe as it was previously marketed by Graupner who have gone to a different manufacturer.

Anyway the OP is in the states.

Status: offline 		If It Dosen't HOP It's a Flop .... Spectrum would not have gone to DSMX - Hopping Technolagy if their DSM2 was any good ... I've seen too many planes (in excess of 25) just distroy them selves when using DSM2 ...  If ya continue to use the old receivers with the DSMX radios then all I can say As Clint would say " Do ya feel Lucky Punk,,Well do Ya"

Not really -
The comments about 'radios which always fail" are mostly from those who rely other inputs and/or those who really did not understand what really causes in flight problems
. Drivel is a good name for this stuff. It goes on n on- -

either way, there's no sales data to support a "spektrum out sells Brand x 10:1. Perhaps at one Hobby shop but I've seen tht shop often specialised in one distributors products which would mean the other brands are really just ordered in to satisfy customers they can't convince.
Tower is a big retailer and they move a lot of hobby goods. Does anyone have their sales data?

The assumption that one outsells another due to bind and fly planes is not factual. Its perception until a market survey says its fact.

Status: offline 		Wet with the HitecRCD modualfor my Futaba Cap9. Then Hitec came out with their Telemitary so I had to have an Aroura 9. RCUused $25o Shipped. Bought Full nitro telimitary system EBay $159 + $5 shipping ... Foune another with 20 hours total and regular modual and an XPS Moduel and 6 channle XPS Receiver  $175 Shipped.   Never have any problems with any of the HITEC Gear except 1 Modual. Sent it in and said I didn't know if it was the original or one of the used ones  ... they Replaced it No Questions Postage paid ... Better than Horizon will do for U ... and they have a 800 number and always available to answer any questions nomater how trivial it may seem. ... I now have 6 9 channlel RX's and at an average price of $69 each on EBay. 5 7 Channel RXs jstpicedp3pack at the Arzajetrall for$140  including tax. I still use my cap 9 for some planes.Will convwert to Hitec 2.4 so I can use the Telemitary systems ... OH! I bought 2 mor Telimitary GPS Systems off RCU For cheep ... Love My High tec Aroura 9 system ... Now if I wern't so old and feble minded I could remember how to program some thing twice ... do a lot of copying and then change peramiters ... Do love the Warnings it gives such a LOW on board Battery Voltage that U can see on the transmitter ... and Altitude, Ground speed and Temps are neet too.  the whole thing can be captured in an IPhone .Ipad Or computer and played back in real time or slow motion and 3-D aginst the tarrine back round of Google earth.  Boys and their Toys ... LOL

Status: offline 		Horizon has the most aggressive marketing to hobby shops with cut rate volume deals in the BNF products. Then, of course, you need Spektrum trannies to fly'em. So many hobby shops take advantage and stock up.

My LHS does the same even though the owner and most employees use Hitec or Futaba. Local power club numbering over 85 members is 90% Futaba, some Spektrum, JR and Hitec. Local glider club uses some Spektrum but more Hitec and Airtronics.

Horizon's BNF series generates a lot of Spektrum sales to newbies and members wanting some of the knock around BNF. Most stick to other brands for their serious birds and many newbies move onto other hobbies. The consignment case at the LHS is full of Spektrum discards.

The most volume sold does not indicate the best. But if it meets your needs and comfort level, dosen't matter what anyone else thinks.

My comments centered around our local clubs and hobby shop.

Spektrum may be more popular in your area for "serious birds" but not here.

Spektrum is used by many serious competitors wit expensive aircraft. It is the predominant radio in New Yirk State.
