Bought this plane years ago because of the unique and cool style.
Great bits of engineering and very light construction.
Tricycle retractable landing gear.
Fully Semmetrical wing and stab.
Made for an inverted .60 I think.
Neet built in brass round fuel tank.

What else can I say, very curvy all over.

What is IT ??

I found it at a swap meet someplace, can't remember where.

Don' t have a clue if it is custom, or a kit, I can tell it was built MANY years ago.

Hi,
It looks like a deBolt design. I'm not sure which one.

1964 or earlier with retracts, as designed. Really neat airplane.

Now that I know what it is, I have been collecting lots of information about this wonderful plane!

I will take care of it well, perhaps even building another so as to not ruin this particular antique classic aircraft.

I have learned that is is very much exactly the kind of plane I love most, Fast Fast and a great flier with truly great engineering.

Also learned that the design is basically as old as I am ! Unbelievable that a machine almost 50 years old was so well thought out.

Thanks very much everyone !

Hal DeBolt you were a Genius!

I agree, DeBolt was a wealth of ideas. I built the next one in line which was called the Solution....It was Mostly Interceptor as described by Hal DeBolt himself. Except the Solution was designed around the K&B 6.5cc racing engine. It was a very light 60 sized plane that worked well with a 40.

The really cool thing about the Solution was all the crutches he had designed and drawn on the plans to improve the model's alignment during the build. So one got to make a bunch of crutches before he built the first part of the model. I was maybe 22 at the time, ca 1978 and fresh out of college; what a great lesson that was in retrospect

Hi,

In Charles Winter updated DVD of Golden era pattern flying  - "Detroit Invitationals" 1963, -64, -65  - You can see Hal DeBolt flying his Interceptor Mk 1. I have the DVD and watch it now and then, great video.
