I plan on doing the exact same as you have but I don't need the sound as I am using a pothead for remote volume control. I should have room for everything with one switch gone.

Nice! I used the same hatch for my charge port, on/off, volume, and Super Smoker switch. Everything is mounted on an aluminum plate fashioned to a cross bulkhead. The only problem is NO ACCESS TO THE ON OFF SWITCH unless the turret is rotated when you turn off the power. It's become a real pain in butt. Next time I'll place the on off switch in the turret under a hatch. First tank and I sure learned some lessons!

At it agaqin, Thanks to Tsull and his great hatch idea I copied his work with a twist of my own, so I did the hatch box and it has two switches and a 5 x 20mm fuse. As I said earlier the volume control will be a remote Pothwead so no potentiometer needed.
I also started the weld lines and I did the front light wire. Doesn't sound like much but it is.
Weld lines are milliput using a dentists scraper.

Just a fyi, you can not get that hatch open with the turret facing foward. I have seen people put switchs in there and then regret it later.

I bought 40 1/8" diameter magnets for 4 bucks, some of which  will be going under the white door stop around the edge of the hatch.
the hinges on the other side I have not made yet but they will be Aluminum on one side with a magnet drilled into the back, the other half of the hinge will be steel.
if the turret closes the hatch off pull the whole hatch door out, if the turret is off to the side then open the hatch normally. either way the magnets will keep everything attached, in theory it should work like a charm.

Battery charging system
So I found these 3.5mm plugs and jacks at an electrical supply place and a bulb went off. Charging batteries inside a tank is usually not a good thing because of the risk of burn downs whatever. so here is an answer to those safety cautious like myself.
I wired this jack in after the fuse not for protection to the system but to the jack. reason being is everything here will be backwards as the charging goes back to the battery.
This jack when the plug isn''t in allows the charge to flow to the system,  plug it in though and it shuts off the flow to the system and only permits the charge back to the battery.

In addition my system switch is inline after this connection.  As a rule if that is off regardless of wether this works or fails the system controller will not ever get a spike in power that could causde a failure.

Now I can install my batteries in the tank and charge them on board. The fuse ( 5 x 20mm and I can get different amp ratings from 5 to 30 If I want ) is inline before the charge jack, it protects the system wiring and also working backward protects the jack from a meltdown as well.

sorry for the unclear pics  I am not a photographer

My magnet idea on the door hinges didn't work.
Plan B will be to install a magnetic relay hooked up to 2 or 3 button batteries inside the turret. If my turret needs turning I hold a magnet in a certain spot activating the turret motor with a small shot of juice, just enough to turn the turret maybe 45 deg. Its gonna have to be a second best.

So I started on the weld lines as I am not doing zim on this tank.  Milliput rolled between my fingers till i get a nice tight roll about 1/8" thick, I press it onto the tanl then I use a dental tool to push the milliput one way. then I come back from the other direction doing the same thing.
I let it set for about 20 minutes then I carefully cut the excess fatness off my line with a super sharp hobby knife. No pressure needed but keep the blade wet and angle it towards the weld line, then i go back over it again with the dental tool just to flatten any bumps.
I can get weld lines as thin as 1/32" consistantly like this.

As I said earlier  I am not a photogragher

I have the periscopes in on all view hatches, I got the radio flashed and programmed, and I started the interior wiring. I have not decided and exact spot for the batteries, board, speakers etc so the stock battery box is still intact. Once I decide where I want everything I will finish gutting and start the rebuild, I also gutted the turret and so far only placed the IR emitter beside the cannon on the left. I am going with a 9.7mm depth to the crown on the emitter because the challenge of having a shotgun on board is not fun.
On the wiring the plug at the front is my notek light at the tanks rear and the other is my battery feed. As all the switches are in the upper hull they will be drop down wires
