I am getting the 1/10 Grave Digger for my son and I for Xmas and I was wondering should I just go ahead and get the Velineon Brushless system for it or will the Titan 550 be ok for awhile as long as I break it in? Thanks

Me, I'd go brushless. use the nicd batteries and depending on his skill level, put the ESC in training mode. That way he can get used to it and you can still upgrade to Lipo later on. I think that all the Grave diggers are also up gradable to 4x4 too.

Thanks for your response. I went ahead and ordered the 30th Annv Grave Digger along with the Traxxas 3350X Velineon Brushless motor. I already have some lipos I'm gonna use.  BTW can I use stock gearing with the brushless motor?

I may be way off here, but I think because of the torque of the BL motor, you can go up a few pinion teeth. Keeping the small stock pinion will (so I'm told by a Max Amps rep) draw too many amps at high speed and will puff the lipo. I tend to disagree. I think the smaller pinion is fine.

The only way to really tell is to get a watt meter and do some testing.
