I am a nitro boater at heart but purchased a minimono the other day. It comes stock with 20a esc and 2200kv outrunner running on 3s 1600mah batteries. 16" hull.

I have a new 60a turnigy esc 120A burst. Need help fitting a BL motor in this tiny boat. My goal is to run maybe 2s probably 3s for normal playing around but putting 2 2s packs (4s) in it to do backflips. Well maybe not backflips but push the hull to its limits.

I also have a 2900kv turnigy that will handle 4s and not fry my esc but will a 2848 2900kv be to small? My knowledge limits me to knowing how to read part number, understanding running different batts in parrallel or series calculating theoretical rpm etc... I just don't know what weight is to much or prop to big and draw to much from my esc.

Side note I do have a watt meter on its way to dial in the setup, just need to get close first.

There you go destroying  a decent boat,LOL! 2200 on 3S with a good prop is your limit. I'd go for a high pitch prop in the 30mm or even a Octura 632 prop is it. Those small boats have to be reenforced body to do what you want. Lipo on 3S in the 3.3 range should do it. I have an airboat at 16" with a 2200kv outrunner on 3S and runs  great called Anachy. -Correction on lipo size; 3.3 is too big and a 2.2 - 3S might be to fat. This is my take on this. I have many boats from 29" monos to 20" monos and know their potentials.

Appreciate the feedback. I guess my only concern with increasing pitch or diameter was overheating the electronics. Like I said before I'm a nitro boater at heart. Especially the hydros. Maybe subconsciously I'm trying to get this little guy to compete with those :-). I will put that bigger esc in and try increasing the pitch until I let the magic smoke out! Worst case scenario I do get her up to speed and the hull fails then its davey jones's problem.
