Hey all,
I am thinking of building a cheap SPADstang or something. What tools would you recomend I use and need??? I haven't started with a trainer yet but I am just thinking a little ahead. I am only 12 yrs old and thought that SPADS are a little cheaper and 'slap together' so I won't lose concentration( I've got a year old tank plastic model 1/2 done but neglected). Oh, yeah, could I use a heat gun instead of a propane/butane torch?
Thanks all in advance

Take some advice and build a Debonair or BUHOR, they are not only "trainer" planes they also help you get the hang of building

Nope you wern't clear BUT it dosent change what i recomend.
Build one of the simpler trainer type SPAD's before you try the Stang, the Debonair, BUHOR, are reasonably easy to build and help give you some of the skills of building with corflute, they are constant cord, constand aerofoil wings which are MUCH easier to build than the Stang's double taper.
SPAD is easier to build with than balsa but still requires a "knack" for some things.

even if you dont try a trainer SPAD try the DPS it's still a lot easier to start with than the Stang

I'm with Woodsy. Start with something real simple to help you understand how working with coroplast is a bit different than working with wood. There are some basic skills that you'll want to develop in working with coroplast that works with most any SPAD project you decide to tackle.

Like you, for my first SPAD I tried the stang and got so frustrated with it that it took me over a week just to build the wing and that was as far as I got with it. I put the stang away and built the Dominator for my first SPAD and I learned a lot from it.

There are some tricks to working with coroplast so do yourself a favor and learn to crawl before you walk and learn to walk before you run. It'll make your SPAD experience more enjoyable and you'll benefit more from the expierence and advise that you'll receive here or at SpadWorld.

Good luck,
