I am looking for input good or bad about the Common Sense RC 60 & 90 size motors. I am looking for a motor for my Mojo 60 at 7 lbs.

I dont have an info to share on those motors .I do have info on heads up rc motors. We have converted over 7 planes to electric this season. From 40 size up to 30 cc 3d planes. Jeff at heads up has great customer service and we have been very happy with his products. You need to tell us how many cells you want to run and also an idea of prop size for clearance.. The common sense motors look to be low KV so they need high cell count or large diameter props. IMHO 1000 watts minimum is what you want for spirited flight.

mighty9,

I was aiming more for 200-250 watts per pound for 3D flying. That would put me at 1400 to 1750 watts.
I would think that the plane could use anything up to 18" prop, but the 15"-17" size would probably be best.
The cell count of the battery used would preferably be 6S. This keeps the price and weight down. I don't know much about EF, so just spit balling here.
The only reason I was inquiring about the Common Sense motors is because they had the 60 and 90 motors about half price on a Black Friday sale that ended yesterday.
I was also looking at the Motrolfly DM4315-500. This would probably be at the lower side of the power scale for 3D on a 7+ pound plane, but than again I don't know much about EF setups.

If you have any other brand motor battery suggestions please post them.

Greg

Best thing i could say is call Jeff @ headsup rc. His motors are cheaper than the ones you listed at half price. We used one of his firepower 60 580 kv motors on 3300 mah 6 s nano tec turnigy batteries in our great planes 70 inch revolver and love them. They they will hover @ 8 pounds. On a 15x8 apc.
