HI!, I only fly Parkflyers type airplanes and have a lot of 7.4 (2 cell) 1300mah Lipo batteries... some planes that I am interested in say they need 11.1v (3 cell) 1300mah batteries even though the ESCs are 20 amp rated. What would be the problem on using my 7.4v(2 cell) 1300mah batteries on airplanes that indicate 11.1v (3 cell) 1300mah even though the ESC are the same?... would only the flight time be affected?... Thanks for your input.

Power and speed might be around half of what the 3s would be if all else is equal.

Generally mah dictates flight times. Motors are rated in kv. Revolutions per volt. So 7.2v would give a 1/3rd less rotations per unit time.

You may not have the power to fly. It might be possible to change the motor to 1/3rd higher kv rating but then you will have to change the prop too and it gets a little complicated.

Or you could buy some 13000mah single cell lipos if they exist and connect in series to your 2cell lipos. You would have to make a series adaptor to connect them- not difficult.

Alternatively buying some 3cell lipos would allow you to fly your parkflyers until they are flat then fly some more with your 3cell planes!

If you are going to buy some 3cell lipos some mah sizes are more popular than others and therefore cheaper. For example a popular 2200mah battery could well be cheaper than a 1300mah battery and will only be too heavy if the power set up and wing loading is marginal on the 1300mah. Be sure the battery bay is big enough though!

All the best

Yes, have to be careful with the size of the battery packs... in the Cessna 182 I have, the 2s 1300mah batteries barely fit in the battery compartment and I hate to do surgery on planes unless they are crashed. I will have to buy some 3s batteries for the others paying attention to their sizes.
Thanks for the help...
