Why in the world would any body spend £7000 on a model if you can buy a proven aircraft like the Ultra Lightning or the Ultra Bandit. This is just absurd.  This is just another Chinese model that is made to look nice. If any body thinks that it is any different you are smoken some of the good stuff.  If this model was worth anything Al's hobbies would have been all over it not a person with no sales or credibility.

The model is actually made in Qatar, not China, and I think Lotus Composites have a great deal of credibility. Just my perception. I don't know why others didn't take the Aurora. I can only presume that the market is pretty saturated with good quality aircraft from the well established manufacturers so for a new manufacturer to break into this market is very difficult. Especially in the current economic climate when cash is tight it is alway best to stick with what we know best, it's called Comfort Zoning

I feel that the price of the Aurora is very competive when you consider the build and finish quality. Please don't judge the model until you have actually seen one up close, seen it fly or flown one yourself.

For modellers who want a large jet but do not want a ballistic missile designed to break the sound barrier the Aurora fits the bill.

It's also just that bit different from the norm to make it appealing.

and a bit cheeky (Cat & Mouse Scheme)

Ian

So does this model have a connection with Lotus Composites (i.e. the car company)?

Looks very cool! To reply to someone earlier - ppl would be interested in this for the same reason the Futura, Hawks and Viper Jets are so popular = graceful constant speed pattern maneuvers which last longer on a flyby because you're not eating up real estate at 200mph.
Congrats to all involved and best wishes for a successful rollout!

It is a good looking airframe, a refreshed Skymaster Dragon with some really good paint schemes. Good value for a 160 class too.

Good luck to the team marketing/selling this.

I'm sure you'll ignore the cynics.

Thank you David and yes we will ignore the critics. Most of them have other agendas anyway.  There's no way they can judge this aircraft as I'm the only one to see the final product in the UK as far as I know.

I find it a tad creepy the way the certain posts are by the same person responding to their own posts. Very odd.

 Installation has commenced

Servos of choice are Spektrum A6030 all round kindly donated to the project.

Anyone got a suitable  Powerbox system sitting around for which I can make a reasonable offer?

Let me say a quick word here guys. I know a lot of you are frustrated by Dennis, a.k.a. Bigplumbs, littlegrapes, siclick33. and the many other usernames he has been on RCU under. Unfortunately Dennis knows what we track accounts by and he is very good at bypassing those and creating new accounts. All we can do is keep banning new accounts as he creates them and remove any posts that he makes. We apologize if we have a delay in getting to these but Dennis is a few hours ahead of most of our moderators because he is in the UK and most of our moderators are based in the US. But please bear with us as we do this. Give us a hand by reporting Dennis sightings as soon as they happen, and don't feed his troll accounts when they occur. Anybody that spots him please feel free to PM me directly with new sightings and I promise we will take care of it just as quickly as we can.

Hopefully he'll finally get tired of trying to come to a place where is definitely not wanted. It's sad really, if you ask me that he keeps trying to come back.

Ken

Yes it does, it's the large fin and wing profile. Although from the front it looks distinctly like a Hawk. These comparison will make for some pretty cool colour schemes

Took a trip down to ModellbauUK's premiss yesterday for a look around, was made very welcome and given a cup of tea to boot by one of Ian's fair maidens, what a nice man, had a good look around and was very impressed with the Aurora, for those who think the price is too much, I paid nearly the same for a telescope case, just the case without the contents.

Difficult to see under fluorescent lighting, but the waves you can normally see in composite's flat surfaces seem to be missing, I would go as far to say the moulding seems to be every bit as good as any of my CARF's.
