I have been flying glow for years but am now getting into edf ( am building a 78" me-262). What is all needed to use EDF's in the plane? I mean I need fans and motors but what else is needed. It looks like the engine pods will fit a max of a 90mm fan. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Status: offline 		FANS, MOTORS, ESC(ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROL) UNIT FOR EACH FAN and either 2 batteries, i per fan, or a Large battery to power both fans, and a stand alone BEC(battery eliminator circuit) for the rx/servos, inlet ring, exhaust tube. if i were in AZ and needed help with a new EDF set up, i would be looking to find Bob Ruff. wherever in AZ he might be at the moment, and pick his brain for as much as he would allow.

Status: offline 		Thank you for that help. I have been doing alot of research online and have found alot of good info. I have ordered a set of Change Sun 90mm 12 blade fan units. The questions I have about the motors if you buy say a motor rated for 6s lipo can you use 8s batteries or 10s to get the rpm up on the fan?

Status: offline 		really is dependent on the particular motor, and the installation. motors are designed to sink/bleed a certain amount of heat over time used. if you up the cell count, you also up the potential for heat. if the motor is over designed, or if you have a really good install with a lot of air flowing over the motor, you can get away with 1 or 2 cells extra, but it will still generally shorten the lifespan of the motor.
i seem to be remembering, that bob is a member here, so you might be able to pm him through the RCU system. uses some form of his name for a handle.
